Western slope of CO. We got on some elk although they weren't being very vocal. Lots of wallows where we were. My buddy Greg/MO shot a nice bull. I ate my tag lol
I'm headed to Pagosa Springs Colorado for the second rifle season in late October. The altitude is probably going to kick this Ohio boys butt...
NO sh*t. I was in Ouray County. Unit 65. I ate my tag also...unless I can figure a way to get out there during rifle season.
Totally jealous of everyone on these elk hunts! The closest I get to shooting elk is at 3D shoots...lol
Plan and save. This is my first trip. But the planning and saving began 3 years ago. It's DIY to save money. I will let you know how it goes when I get back. I may wish I had a guide when it's all over big I'm excited to try it myself the first go around.
My two friends and I have tentatively planned one for next fall. We will see what happens between now and then, but it is something I've always wanted to try.
I've saved my vacation days all year and have 11 left. I will b working 3 days a week from Halloween rill mid October. Other than I'm planting wheat in one field to try and land a deer late season.
Hey fellas had no school today so dad and I drove up to the hunting property just got back from the stand saw a couple good deer that were just a little bit out of my comfortable range. Going back out later tonight. I'll keep yall updated!
My strategy might be changing. Found out a neighboring property has a 170 inch buck on it and the trail cam picture was taken just on the other side of the fence line recently. It's on the side of the property I haven't hunted much. That's probably gonna change! Haha! There's some white oaks over there so I will be scouting early next week since season comes in on the 24th. I'd post his picture but it's not my trail cam and the neighbor was nice enough to share it with me. So I will post his picture once he's dead and I'm holding up his rack!
Hey guys, Just throwing out a staus update. I'm still around and will be for the long haul, but my presence may be scarce for the foreseable future. Just had a roof put on the house and been quite busy with that. Now, I think I might be leaving the job I have had for the past 12 1/2 years. Have to call Monday to set up an interview with the potential new company. The flip side of that is the site that I used to post my resume is also used by my current workplace and they have already had a "qualifying candidate" notification showing me as someone to potentially contact for hire. I have already informed them that I was going to be looking for another job, but that did not mean I was quitting. Anyhow, it has the chance to get heated and turn ugly so my focus will be on this. Either way it will all be resolved by the time the rut hits. If I switch jobs, my hunt time and vacation will obviously change. Hoping I can still salvage a 4-5 day rut hunt either way. It only takes one day, I just need to be there for it! Apologies in advance.
Nice! Congrats. Don't forget you need two different pics with yourself, your bow and the deer in both pictures.
It won't count for the contest in that case. Unless of course you still have the doe and can take 2 more pics with all criteria met. It happens, it really sucks when it was the antlered score. If you plan on shooting another you can still submit it, or if you get 2 antlered deer down you can use the 2nd as your 50 points. Just a reminder to everyone: 2 different photos that clearly show hunter, bow and deer. Scoring breakdown of antlered deer being recorded for more than 50 points Time and date of kill
Good luck with the new job CLS, hoping you get it! Nice job on the doe bcowg, shoot another one and get some pictures with the bow this time!
