I passed on a small basket rack huge bodied buck, and a decent 8, we left for Gatlinburg Tennessee this morning so I told myself I wasn't going to shoot one unless it was a monster, plenty of season left!

 

Got out to hunt this morning and saw two nice does. Deer were spooky and did not stick around long! Very windy here which puts them on alert anyway but I got down around ten and relocated my set and trimmed some shooting lanes. I feel pretty about this location but I won't be back out to hunt until tomorrow night now! Good luck to all of you guys!

 

OK I've decided to sneak out before work in the AM. Had a whole bunch of does hanging out at a new hospital next door in the front new grass when I drove by. Hopefully I'll see their male friends in the AM a few hundred yards away

I only had a doe come in this morning but was pretty young so gave her the pass.

It was a decent morning today. Had 5 does and a button buck at 20 yards and a little 6 off to my left side. I am starting to think might take a smaller one and then get the 50 bonus points with a second. The bigger one only shows comes through at night it seems. That and in a couple weeks, everyone in the area will be busting them with muzzle loaders and riffles.

I just got the barrel swapped on my AR...can't wait for gun season to see how the 8" barrel does over the 10.5" I removed

 

I am going pistol hunting this year during riffle. I have a bolt action pistol called a striker made by savage. Shoots a .308 round. Depending on my bow season will determine if I use it. I know a few does will not be the problem so a bonus 50 might have to make up for the smaller buck. The problem I have is I hunt public land mostly and seldom my find a nice one. I take three each year. The largest buck I have shot is a little over 110. Let me look for a picture. Standby

Kick like a mule too, or is it heavy enough? Can't image launching a .308 from a "pistol."

It's youth season here this weekend so I'll need to bust out the blaze if I go. Other issue is it's supposed to be 70F Saturday and almost 80F Sunday...along with ~20mph winds!

All those factors are making it hard for me to justify going out. I'm not sure if the high traffic in the woods will have them hunkered down or on their feet running for their lives.

 

It doesn't kick bad at all, its actually really smooth but its really loud. I like it a lot!
