The elk that got away then died :(

The first day opening day, I got a shot at a 5 point bull at 70 yards, my first shot ever at an elk, I hit him guessing in the back leg, I had meat, blood, and hair on my arrow but no trail of blood. Me and my dad were driving to go to a hunting spot saw a cow run across the road so i got out and chased after it. i rand down a little patch of woods then hit a dirt road then i lost it, didnt know were it went, when i get out of the little patch i see a old skid road so i walk down it and let out cow calls on my way down, then I start hearing cracking i move up into a circle area in the skid road and I see 3 elk 70 yards away and i pull back my bow and see the bull perfact brod side shot and this is my first shot ever at an elk and im shacking bad lol, so i try to put my pin on it but im shacking way to bad and i release then they start running so i nock another arrow and i cow called then this cow is just looking at me, so i try to pull back my bow on her and she ran i try to run after them but they went threw a mess of down timber so i leave them alone then start walking back to my dad and i find my arrow in the dirt i pull it out and it has hair on it blood and meat so me and my dad start looking for blood never found it, then i had to go home to go back to school and i find out somone shot the bull i shot and got it, i heard it had a lot of holes in it lol.

 

Jake, please stop, stop posting these totally unethical stories of your clueless animal wounding and absolutely insane shots that you are taking. You show no thoughts regarding the wounding of animals and are nothing more than Websters definition of "Slob Hunter".

I'd be willing to bet you're a very young guy, and more than likely you're going to get your feelings hurt by what Greg said... but I concur: For the most part, you've stumbled upon a group of very hardcore bowhunters here in this forum who hold the utmost respect for our quarry, and stories like this do not sit well with the time and effort we put into making a quick, ethical kill.
