Agree, stubbornness. I also respectively disagree as I've seen both sides. In both cases I saw the hard facts. It came down to parenting. Some got It while others don't. Your blaming big families on everything you stated here?
Not that you got a call to be on television ... but I digress ... Bruce pretty much dealt with y'alls "logic" ...
You do realize that they were approached about being on TV and not the other way around right? They had 17 kids before TV came calling. It seems as though the argument you are making is they can't be good parents, because they put their kids on TV.
I have no idea who approached who, or how a TV producer procured them to be on TV show, nor do I care. In any event they chose to put themselves on TV and subject their family to any ramifications that may come from it. That is their choice not mine. I can assure you it wouldn't be something I would subject myself and my family to, again that would be my choice.
Doesn't show the the best judgment in parenting...... Not sure that equates to being bad parents..that's a stretch.
I'll leave it with, I'd disagree with your opinion. Putting their family on TV means zero in how they parent.
They originally came to public attention when the national news picked up a story about them and their 14 or 15 kids at the time living in a steel barn with no money to finish the change into a home. People opened their pocketbooks and gave the money to finish the refurbish. After that, she was on some parenting show on TLC for more births. They then got the TV series. As far as raising their children on the air, I wouldn't do it. The kids have to be ridiculed and will have no private life. Also opens them up to extortion (i.e. the case the arrest was made recently).
Reading threads like these makes me realize how illogically some people think. A family in Iowa having their own children, paying for their own children, and schooling their own children are contributing to world overpopulation and are terrible parents for having a TV show. They are also comparable to large families on welfare which we as taxpayers support and are also indirectly responsible for malnourished kids from around the world since they could have taken on the irresponsibilities of these families in India rather than have their own children in Iowa. You simply can't make this stuff up if you tried. I love the inter web.
I don't think they live in Iowa unless your talking about some other family. Just wikipedia them being the Duggars says they live in Tontitown, Arkansas
They should write book....How to Turn a set Ovaries into a Career The Early Show 2006–2008 (CBS) Fox & Friends 2007 (Fox News Channel) The Today Show – 10 appearances between 2007 and 2011 (NBC) American Morning 2008 & 2009 (CNN) Larry King Live February 19, 2009 & April 13, 2009 (CNN) Huckabee August 1, 2009 (Fox News Channel) Say Yes to the Dress October 2, 2009 (TLC)
Oh well then I stand corrected, that changes everything. Lol, just trying to lighten the mood of such a serious thread with twisted logic over such a meaningless thing.
Yes, real bitter...My son's 527 is more then my mortgage payment. Multiply that 16 and means hunting about 30 seconds a year. I am not big on selling my family and our privacy for money. Your mistaking my distaste for that for bitterness.
So now I've learned who they are. Never saw the show. Just another dang reality...not so reality show. Tsk Tsk.
