The Duggars. Okay to have 19 kids?

I don't think the goverment should step in at all. Never even hinted at that.

Research shows it takes .125 acres of cropland to grow enough to sustain one life. For the Duggars it takes 2 3/8 acres. The population density of USA is 1 person for every 2.96 acres of cropland. The Duggars are not straining the situation in the USA.

 

Well, you said that the problem with Americans is that we wait too long to correct a problem, such as theoretical over population. So how would American correct this problem other than government intervention?

 

No I am not .... Claritin during allergy season is about it .... so if you don't want to legislate against it, them you just want to label those that's have more than _________ kids as wrong, irresponsible, ...what? What is your point ...

 

How about people making good choices on their own? It's called common sense in layman's terms.


Did you read the whole thread Hook? You probably only read the last page or so and think I'm totally against the Duggars. I'm actually on the fence and see both sides of this.

 

Yeah...you have a bit more faith in the human race than me if you think the common citizen will police themselves.

 

So what number equates to "good choices" or "common sense" to you? Why do you keep avoiding this question?

 

Probably true. But I don’t want politicians going down that road.

 

Americans can correct the problem without government intervention. That can be accomplished by changing ideas and turning them into actions. I believe that is apparent right now with Americans having less children on average then in the past. Speaking only for myself after witnessing the level of depravity out there, I think children today need more guidance and time given to them than ever before.

What is really discouraging is that the most educated/well off couples are choosing to have the least amount of children.

 

Perhaps the Duggars think they are making good choices.
