Tony, how do you respond to the world overpopulation and adoption comment I made earlier? I'm understanding the flip side.

The world is NOT overpopulated ... that statement is unfounded and ridiculous .... I would like to see some facts on that. On the adoption side ... I have taken an orphan in that was headed to a boys home .... but that was MY choice ... we have 4 children by CHOICE ... if we wanted more by adoption or natural .. that is between my wife and I ... when you breakdown some of the thought processes here .... ANY child born is irresponsible because the world is overpopulated .. it just make NO sense ...

It may make no sense to you but I really believe you are sticking your head in the sand on this one. But hey that is just me. No it likely won’t affect you or me in our lifetime. But I'm pretty sure my kids will have to deal with it.

Tony, I am not even going to look. Overpopulation is subjective at this point because nobody knows for sure how many people this earth can sustain. But god did give me a brain so that I can think about where we are headed in the future as a planet. We differ strongly on this topic. Whatever I say it isn't going to change your opinion. I think this world has too many people on it. You don't.

BTW, what do you think about China implementing population growth rules. Are you against that over there?

    Brad,
Who are the "many people"? What is their position in society to determine whether or not the Duggars should have so many children? Are the Duggars a burden on their community? There are many out there that do not have the means or morals to raise even one child that have many children. You'd think that a family that size would have learned to be very thrifty with everything. They may use more water than the average family of 4, but I'd almost be willing to bet that if you broke down the usage per individual, they are probably under most families. Yes, the earth has too many people. Approximately 1/2 of the world's population lives in China and India. Bangladesh has 3171 people per square mile, India has 1036 people per square mile, Japan has 904 people per square mile, and USA (in 7th place) has 88 people per square mile. If the world's over population problem is to be fixed, let's figure out how to get the worlds most crowded countries to control their population and work from there.
    Just some fodder for thought.

    Good post IV.

I just did a quick Google search. I found these three in 15 seconds. I just linked them up without reading it just to show examples (don't have time right now). If you do a google search yourself you will find quite a lot.

Brad, the point was (on who are the many people), we all have opinions and just because we voice them, does not mean we are right.

Could not agree more. They are people with their own opinion and they are publically stating them on internet. Just like I am doing.

Considering the US is a constrictive pyramid, you're argument doesn't really make much sense. If this was in some over-populated, 3rd world country, then yeah, having 19 kids would be irresponsible. Here in the US, if they can support them without government assistance, I don't see the problem.

Nearly 1 billion people live malnourished/hungry every day, globally. 3-4 million kids per year do not live to see their 5th birthday due to malnutrition. Globally, we do seem to have overpopulation problems.

So your point is that because we are not overpopulated now it is okay and we should just go gangbusters hey? This is exactly what gets humans, especially the United States, in trouble all the time. Human nature is to wait too long until the problem actually exists and then try to deal with it when little or nothing can be done about it.

My interpretation is that he said he sees no problem with having 19 kids because this country is not overpopulated. No?

The US has a declining population (not including immigrants) right now, so I'm not exactly sure what you are getting at?

And I don't think the is an epidemic of families having 19 kids in this country. It's actually the opposite. More and more young people are choosing to not have kids right now in the US.

I'm seriously going to ignore this. I've noticed a pattern with you Tony. The debates you get into seem to turn ugly. Seriously.
