So where do you stand on this issue Vito? (Just trying to stir this thing back up and get to twenty or more pages.)

    Since you asked...

I don't care if they have 19 kids if they can support them. It is my understanding this family was struggling before the exposure through media, so I do believe they had passed their breaking point. That has obviously change with the tv show. So why not have more, right? Overpopulation could very well become an issue down the road. I'm not blind to that possibility. If having 19 kids was an epidemic, I would say it needs to be addressed, but the average household has less members per family in the US than in the past.

The whole reality show does make me pause. I believe it will affect the family negatively in some ways. It will and has dramatically increased their income. If they believe money out weighs the negatives, that is their decision.

I do have some issue with home schooling, mostly because most home schoolers I know are religious nut jobs. I do not know enough about these people to decide if they are religious nut jobs, but I am a shallow stereotyper that enjoys making generalizations.

As opposed to being unmarried and having X# kids from X# men, none of whom likely even know who X is? Or X# abortions because X# kids would interfere with making it with X# men. Its sad the things our society chooses to critique while winking at behavior that was unthinkable to our grandparents.

Once in college and you banged all the Duggar girls, how money points is that? Does it double after each sister?

I didn't see anyone supporting that idea. Where did that come from?

But since you brought it up, I don't believe society believes its a good thing. Our society becomes numb to things that are common. The result is it doesn't get discussed as often. There are way more important topics that get ignored all the time, but I don't think they become acceptable. Its the "beating of a dead horse", right Fitz?

I believe it should increase by one with each sister. First sister worth 1, second sister worth 2, third sister worth 3, etc. So three sisters would be worth 6 points total. 4 would be worth 10 points, and so on.

Two at one time should be worth double the points that sister is worth, depending on where you are on the list.

Sorry I missed it. I thought your kids were older? Did one of them get in a fight?

Exactly, the ref called him for carrying the ball. He very politely pointed out to the ref that he could easily cover the length of the court in two dribbles without carrying the ball. My son explained to him that his eyes had been opened to such a feat on the internet. He even went so far as to write down the url address to the thread on this site so the ref could see for himself. The ref remained unimpressed, so my son did what any teenager would do, he drew the technical foul. The benches cleared and the rest is history. I cant believe you missed it Vito. Now, if you could send me a little help with the dental bills. I was going to ask Hooker for some cash, but his wife is going on a bender shopping spree and he's gonna be a little short on dough for a while.

Dan, you got a mind like a steel trap.

The original question was as I understood it are they breaking any moral laws by having a lot of children.
Ref: [Clearly they are not breaking any law. How about morally?]

I am trying to wrap my mind around grown men discussing the morality of having children... when grown men with families are on here discussing how many points each daughter is worth... Come on... seriously?

That's why these threads are in the basement, and they are more entertaining when people take them too seriously.

I agree with most, if they can sustain and care for all 19, so be it. I came from a family of 15... both parents were married before and had kids with their first spouse, divorced and married each other and had more kids and my father had 2 out of wed lock. I don't want kids myself..
