So I have a friend I hunt with time to time maybe once or twice a season. Well he has a habit of not being able to sit in the stand with out smoking a cigarette every 30 minutes to an hour. I feel like this just destroys a hunt because of the sent of a cigarette but I've had other people tell me they can't tell where it comes from. I'd just like to know what you guys think before I decide to blow up on him tomorrow night if I have to hunt with him again.

I used to smoke about 6 years ago. I never had any adverse reactions from it, had deer come in while I was smoking. I even used a zippo because in windy days I didn't want to sit there spinning the flint wheel on a butane lighter. Uncles friend was a chain smoker as well. I'd climb in to one of the other stands from time to time and it would have about 12 butts stuck under the bark of the tree.

You probably spook more deer with your scent going to and coming from the stand than his cigg smoke does.

My dad has always been a chain smoker since before I was born and he was always a deer killing machine. Deer smell smoke all the time in the wild, I always assumed they just couldn't tell the difference between grass or wood smoke or cigg smoke. In fact it seems to be a good cover scent.

Let them do what they want to do or dont hunt with him. I have a buddy who has to smoke before going to stand and after and I always tell him to stay clear away from my gear and me.

I can solve the problem for all of ya, JUST DONT SMOKE. Smoking destroys your lungs. My Uncle and Aunt died in their 40's because of lung cancer(smoking). Science has said that a pack of CIGS takes away a hour of your life.
