I may be called selfcentered, self-important intolerant etc, but most of the time it is just before and during deer season. I just get called a regular jack azz now that I am tagged out.
I will second that equipment doesn't bother the deer. I work on a surface mine with about 100 pieces of large earthmoving equipment and the deer don't seem to mind the equipment at all. Granted since we have been there a while they are conditioned to the noise and such but I have been in a stand 100 yards from equipment going full blast and the deer just go on about their business like normal.
In that case I'd be pretty irritated and be having further conversations. While most lease contracts certainly allow the land owner "normal operations" I am not sure this would really fall under those guidelines especially if not fully disclosed at signing. Perhaps, if you really do miss out on hunting a large part of the season due to the operation, you can negotiate a reduced rate for next years lease??? EDIT: Blarney beat me to it...
The paid lease thing sucks but today I was dropped off at my field edge stand by a coworker on a tractor that kept on driving after I hopped off. I saw my first deer in the distant while I was still climbing up. Best of luck before gun season.
