My brother hunting on same property pulled his card yesterday and sent me this. He's on team 15, so this will be an interesting season. I should have some cam pics to post Sunday evening. Mine are on the back end of the property where they funnel in from bedding on the neighbors. So hopefully I've got a few of these three during daylight hours :-D

I hope these will count for the score card. I'll figure out the score later. It was a 30 yard heart shot

Congrats Tim. It should count so go ahead and enter it after you score it and if there's a problem I'll work it out with Fitz. I plan to just do selfies in the woods because no-ones coming to help and take pics unless it's a beast.

Score was 98 6/8 after a 9 1/8 deduction. Getting ready to enter it.

Yea it is. Also have to have your bow in the pic. Not sure if they'll count it without. Congrats on the buck though!

I'm hoping they will accept it being it's a real early kill. Just a reminder to everyone else to take pictures of yourself with the deer and bow in the woods twice.

I can get some with my bow. I just have to dig the head back up. So, that will be 107 6/8 points if they accept them.

Ok, so the story of the hunt. I rolled into where I've been hunting this season after leaving around 3:30. I unloaded the wheeler and cruised up by where we had camped. It was still dark and my fingers were frozen, so I decided to load the wheeler up and head back by where I had seen deer during previous hunts.

I followed another truck up the road and they jumped a little buck. I jumped out of the truck and could barely range him at 47 yards. Before I could get back to full draw, he bounced down the hill. So I drove up to the fork where Marvin and I turned during my last morning hunt. I drove around the bend and caught the buck I shot down in the draw.

He had an extreme quartering away position, so I walked back down the road trying to get a better shot. I could never get a shot walking that way, so I walked back and he was still standing there. He started to walk away, so I came to full draw and mouthed a call, just enough to get him to stop. He stopped, I released and I heard the hit. I listened as he ran into the woods, immediately doubting the shot. I heard him crash, so I drove back around the bend, where I could have a straight drag.

I walked down and retrieved my arrow, which was covered with blood. I saw where it hit and started on the blood trail. After following the trail roughly 60 yards, there he was, taking his proverbial dirt nap.

I realized that I left my pillow case (game sack) back in the truck, so I started the approximately 180 yards back to the wheeler. I contemplated just loading up the truck and heading to the house to have some help dressing the deer. I decided to just quarter him out at the truck and head home from there.

It was the first of my bowhunting career. It's been a long and frustrating road to this point, but I now know that I can do it on my own, which has been one of my biggest fears.

Great story Tim. It really does all come together when you get your first one on the ground.
