Not sure. Usually just play it by ear. When I have the time and weather is nice. I got 2 kids under 3 so I got to maximize my stand time on the good days.

I know how you feel with the little kids. All 4 of mine are under 7.

I just checked the cam over my mock scrape and freshened it up. No bucks came in unfortunately. Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to setup in a bunch of oak trees I know the does are hitting. On my way to shoot now

How did you shoot today? We grilled deer steaks tonight with a brown sugar marinade. Absolutely delicious.

That sounds real tasty Tim. The range was packed with recurve archers so I shared a target for 6 shots at 30yards then left. I was happy with the grouping and ready to get out there around 3 o'clock.

Second outing wasn't that great. Fighting off chest cold Fri and Sat, finally made it into the tree last night. Had a young doe under me for about 15 mins until I started choking on what as far as I could tell was an insect of some sort due to the movement it made as soon as it hit the back of my throat. After unsuccessfully trying to clear it silently for almost a minute I burst out coughing. Took her a bit to figure out what was going on as I had my back to her. Eventually she did and made a hasty escape as I stood there gasping for breath and hacking up a lung almost certainly scaring off any deer for a half mile radius.
On another note, my brother got the food plot in on Friday and we finally got some rain! Gotta a mock scrape with a dripper and a cam on it as well. First time putting one out this early, so we'll see how it goes

I've been there too scoot with a cough. Just got myself climbed up in an oak tree around acorns.

Thanks Tim. The breeze completely stopped at 3 o'clock I'm really hoping it picks back up. Overcast with rain on the way.

Doe down. 5 minutes after I shot(625) it started to rain. She ran like hell out of sight I just finished blood trailing in the rain. Some zig zagging but it was probably 110 yards

I had a little fun at work today with one of my younger co-workers, right before we saw a little buck again. He was about 14" wide and a little smaller than mine. My boys also spotted about 10 deer leaving a birthday party Saturday afternoon.

Haha that's a prank for sure. I just entered the doe. Tim it was a little late on a rainy Monday night I didn't want to bother my folks who are about 20 minutes away and I live an hour away. I got her quartered and dropped off at a coworkers house that could use the meat by 945 and was home by 11. I will admit it's always a handful doing things alone.

Thanks! I'll probably head back out Saturday evening to the creekbed crossing up to that oak knob I sat last night if winds are right.

Hey guys, sorry for the late arrival! Matt, thanks for checking me in! Been elk hunting since JZ left after killing his buck, I was able to hunt one afternoon when he was here and passed on a couple of bucks while the big boy stood at 200 yards for about 4 hrs. Most of my stuff will be late season in IL or here in WY for whiteys, I may get out in the next week before our rifle hunters show up and try to stick a muley... we'll see! Have fun, stay safe and good luck!!!
