It was 82 degrees but the forecast had a favorable 7-9mph breeze for the tree I was going to climb. That all lasted for an hour then it was dead calm. I saw 2 spikes and a small doe with her fawn that still had very white spots. So I didn't take any shots. Still good to shake off the rust and get in the game.

I've got a housewarming BBQ to go to tomorrow and there's no Sunday hunting. Some point next week.

I'm planning on going opening morning Tuesday here in Missouri. Gonna be pretty hot all week here though so probably won't hunt any afternoons.

I'll be elk hunting our first 2 weekends but after that it's all deer everywhere. Hopefully I can shoot another 180+ like I did last year. [IMG]
    This was my first giant.

We open Tuesday but like Scoot said it's going to be hot. I may or may not make it out for evening hunt. Too bad we couldn't get today's weather for next week. Hi of 68!

Checking back in. Seems like everyone's doing well and anxious to get going. I see we are on the board! Congrats on your first archery buck! May there be many more in your future.

We open on the 15th as do many of you, but, despite the internal urge, I'll be waiting til mid to late October to get in the woods for actual hunting. I have tended to jump in early in the past and just get discouraged. Its always pretty hot even into late October here and I feel like I just end up stirring up the woods without much luck. My bucks have been harvested on Oct 30, Nov 4, Nov 5, and Nov 6. Lol. Still pre-rut around here at that time. So for now I'll just be tending cameras. My close to home/after work spot is the only place I have cameras out as of now. My buddy and I picked up a new 900 acre lease about an hour from home, but we are still getting the lay of the land. He's in WY Elk hunting right now. When he gets back we'll be placing some corn piles with cameras over them to see what's running around out there.

So far, only one viable buck on my after work spot. And he's only hitting at around 2 am. And halfway through the week my camera reset or something and I lost the date and timestamp! Thinking he may go mid 150's but I'm never any good at judging based on cameras, especially with velvet.

Keep up the good work guys. I enjoy reading everyone's progress. Best of luck!

    Ryan

Thanks Ryan. I gotta say I seriously think we have a good shot at winning this thing. Tim got us looking good on the board early on and we all have good prospects. It's about every member putting in numbers and I think we have that here.

So I don't think I'll hunt this week. Temps consistently in the 80s just isn't what I'm looking for. On another note I ordered a hazmore silent seat for my climber so I'll be more comfortable and not throw it out the tree like I did my old seat on Friday. Thinking about getting a new pair of rubber boots too. I gave up on them a few years ago when I thought my bass pro pair were too slippery. I've been using normal wolverine boots since. Guys recommend lacrosse alot but any suggestions?
