Well, OK State did everything they could to prove they should jump 'Bama. Any chance of that happening?
OSU beat 4 top 25 teams and they average about 50 points a game. Add in that they just crushed the number 10 team in the country and I think one has a good argument that they are deserving. Alabama beat 3 top 25 teams and played neck and neck with LSU. Add in that their Defense is straight up NASTY and I think one could also argue that they are deserving. My pick=Alabama
As a Sooner fan that was the worst showing I've have seen since the 90's. That being said. Okie st is the 2 nd best team in the country. I do not want to see a rematch. That was the worst game I think I've ever seen. Time for the pokes to bring a NC back to the state of Oklahoma.
Alabama had their chance. They lost at home. If it is an LSU/Bama rematch, I think LSU should be at least guaranteed an AP title.
I'm not a fan of rematches for the NC or a team that didn't win their conference title. But, I do think they are the two best teams in the nation (bama and LSU). Playofff anyone?
Definitely don't want to see a rematch of a field goal contest. I would love to see one of the best (if not the best) defense vs one of the best offenses. One has to break. I still think Alabama is the second best team in the country, I just don't want to see them play LSU again. I also don't buy the "its not fair to LSU" crap. It happens in all sports. Once the post season starts, nothing that happened in the regular season should matter. If Alabama beats LSU in the mythical NC game, then they deserve the NC. I would also like to again point out that a certain SEC coach whined about a non conference champion playing for the NC. Yeah, I'm still a little bitter.
OK State also had their chance against a 6 and 6 Iowa State team. LOL Still, I hate the redo with Alabama..... but they are the second best team in football.
I swear if one more person acts like this is LSUs game in which we should pick them an opponent I will pull my hair out. IT ISN'T LSU'S GAME!!!!! IT IS THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Sure LSU is an obvious pick for one of the two slots. Now you forget about them and pick who deserves the second slot, not who LSU deserves to play. It doesn't work that way, the only thing they deserve is a slot in the game. I think the body of work for both teams is extremely comparable with one glaring difference.... Oklahoma State lost to a 28 point underdog in unranked Iowa State. a terrible 6-6 team that UK would have a chance against. Look I understand the arguments for having their chance and not winning their conference, but is that not penalizing them for their conference allegiance? It has to come down to OK St or Bama, and to put a team that lost to Iowa State in the game completely trashes the concept of Every Game Counts. As a fan of entertaining football I would rather watch Oklahoma State play LSU, but if I was a voter picking fairly I'd have to give the nod to Bama on who deserves the second slot.
Unfortunately, since they are the NCAA's only undefeated team, its going to be hard not to "pick them an opponent"
If that's the case lets put Oklahoma Sooners in the championship game, after all it is about who LSU deserves to play (they earned a chance to play someone they haven't, regardless if the team is the 2nd best or not) not who deserves a spot in the Natty C, right? I understand the frustration w a boring rematch for a lot of people, I just still don't understand how you can let a loss to Iowa St slide. And please don't try and cheapen the deaths by talking about the women's basketball coach dieing in a plane crash. Tragedy yes, but if you polled the football team a week before the crash, I'd lay a stack of cash on the fact that around half the team couldn't even tell you the name of the coach, much less know him personally. I honestly think Bama is the best team in the nation and will show it in New Orleans, they outplayed LSU the first time and gift wrapped the game w countless missed opportunities. Their defense destroyed LSU offense and their offense wasn't completely shut down by LSU they just never capitalized. I think the rematch will be a much higher scoring game than round 1, and I think the obnoxious fans of Alabama will go home with even bigger heads. I am getting sick just thinking of all the bs I will hear upon my return to birmingham next spring.
Well, thats exactly what happened the last time a rematch was possible. Michigan was #2 in the BCS, lost to the #1 team in the BCS, stayed at #2 after the loss, and was then leap frogged while idle. The main reason they were leap frogged was the coaches poll. The coaches didn't want a rematch for a couple different reasons. One of them being it was "unfair" to OSU. It wasn't because they didn't feel Michigan was the second best team in the country.
