I'm for it but I will say that the evidence needs to be undisputable.

I am for it on a case by case basis. Should be used more IMO. It was reported yesterday prosecutors are asking for it less these days, I suppose that is the reason for this thread.

All for it...guy murders 1 person gets death but does not get the chair for 25 years, guy murders 23 people gets life with out parole. It needs adjusting. Activists are all against it, think it is cruel etc...then their loved one gets murdered, raped etc and they hop the fence right on over to the good guys.

Google Brian Nichols to see how messed up the court system. The guy took a bailifs gun, shot him, the judghe and some more people "IN" the courtroom on camera, fled the scene and committed some more crimes. Told people where he was hiding out (knew the cops could not kill him then) and was arressted. His trial bankrupted the Fulton county judicial system alone because of all the protection he needed and the team they assembled to give him a fair trial. I am all for a fair trail, but when you do that on camera, fry em the next day to hell with his rights. He voided that when he started taking life.

If you are afraid of an innocent person getting fried every now and then, do not murder, rape etc and you won't have to worry about being that guy.

I know I would have a hard time sentencing someone to death if I was a jury put in that type of situation. That's just the person I am. I don't like the idea of controlling someone's fate. I know it doesn't truly answer the question, but it's the mindset I put myself in before I start chanting "die, die, die," when watching high profile violent crimes go to trial.

A side-solution? Make prison's absolutely miserable as they should be. No TV, no fitness access, no recreational time, no three meals a day, etc. Dark, damp, solitary confined prisons that make even the worst of street lives these criminals may live seem peachy in comparison.

I tend to be of the mindset of "hang em high". I have no idea whether God is a vengeful God or a forgiving God. but if you give me the final decision of punishment for one of these scumbags I would have no problem sending them to their death.

With this being said, would killing the murderer make the family of the victim feel any better? - maybe.

Would killing the murderer relieve the taxpayer from supporting this dirtbag in jail for the next 30-40 years? - yes.

Does a person that is convicted of such terrible crimes have any "place" in our society? - NO.

From what I remember, "murder" according the Bible is killing someone with hatred or anger in your heart. Do you think the Death Penalty fits into the category of killing someone with anger or hatred? I mean, we are retaliating against a person and taking their lives because we are mad and upset aren't we?

I will say this one more time, I support the death penalty, I am just playing a part in the overall debate. :)

I am for it in cases that warrant it.

I also feel that once that sentence is handed down you get 1 appeal within a year, then it is carried out.

I also feel that "attempted murder" charges should be just as harsh as actual murder charges in some cases. Just because the victim miraculously lived, or you were a bad shot or whatever, doesnt change the intent.

I am torn over this issue. I believe whithout a doubt that there are scumbags walking around that need to be dead and the sooner the better. On the other hand there have been several convictiond overturned here in Texas recently. are we as a society ready to kill an innocent man who was wrongly accused? On convictions with overwhelming physical evidence or an admission of guilt? Use the express lane. I also firmly believe in a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Having been in a Texas prison for a couple of years due to a poor decision during my mis-spent youth, I can tell you it is not a fun place to be.

Im kinda torn too. I dont really think its our (imperfect peoples) place to judge whether a person should live or die when I, being a Christian, believe that we all deserve the same death as they do. If we are pro life on the abortion issue (I know that is a different issue) but are pro the death penalty, you are still taking a life of a human being whether that is and "innocent" baby or a guilty murderer rapist. But I also am kinda pro death penalty especially for the child molesters and murderers! That gets my blood boiling!

Against the way we currently do it, cost too much money. I am for a .22 shot in the back of the head, only cost about .04 cents for the bullet. Creammate them and use them for ferterlizer(sp?).

I would tie them to a chair and shoot the on the knee cap and let them sit. A week later they other knee cap, let them suffer until they die.

Against. I've been all over the map on this one throughout my life. I used to want to nuke 'em all, but I've been quietly slipping to the side of being entirely against it.

I'm not saying they don't deserve it, not saying that it wouldn't be a huge relief to society & the facilities we have, not even saying that there are no circumstances that I myself would kill another man... but I don't think we should.

Josh, I was playing Devils advocate. We need more justice imposed by US, not the court system. The "bad guys" should want to get to jail before the angry mob throws them off a cliff. I just recently was around a 17 year old going on 18 year old that was accused of stabbing a 15 year old in the heartand killing him . He acted out a gang hit. He made me sick but I still had to be civil toward him because that is my job in the facility.

ANY sicko that readily admits to killing women and helps police find their body, thereby sexually charging him up needs to be thanked for helping the police, then IMMEDIATELY disposed of in the middle of the desert. Let the buzzards take care of him.

Against. I'd much rather see them shack up in a 8 x 12 cell with bubba who is very lonely and thinks they have a purdy mouth. In other words, make them suffer like they made the victim and their families suffer.

    Eye for an eye
