congrats to lady forge and rajela on the does. Unfortunately i wasn't able to make it out opening day due to some family problems. Hopefully they can get cleared up and i can make it out this weekend.

Yesterday evening I had one of the shooters I have on camera between 25 and 30 yards. He stayed in the brush. I couldn't get a shot. I had to stay in the stand well after dark because he stayed within 50 for a bit then walked the way I normally exit. Had to take an alternate route to the car.

This is him. He had a bigger body than what I thought he had. Right now I'm trying to decide what to do. I can hunt Wednesday and Thursday but it's supposed to be in the 80s. He moved right before dark.

Seeing a deer now in daylight you're probably not far from his bed. Any day you have the same wind is worth a hunt thinking he'll be bedded in the same area.

I think you are right. If I don't get that wind for several days what do you think I should do?..... it is supposed to be 10 degrees hotter Wednesday. I'm sure it's going to be a different wind. Probably will be a sw wind. Yesterday it was nw. It could change where he is bedding or his travel route. Not sure. Bad thing is if I don't hunt it Wednesday or Thursday I won't be able to get back in there til Sunday. Based on what the weather is showing there should be a nw Wind Sunday (because of cold temperatures) but in a week a lot can change. I will definitely sweat if I go in there Wednesday. Supposed to be low 80s

Is there a point or thick area you can suspect him bedding in? Was he headed to a certain food source? Maybe the bedding area is used with multiple wind directions? I agree that the window is small to setup on a certain movement, but the risk of bumping him has to be worth the odds of being rewarded otherwise you're doing damage with low odds of killing him. Maybe setup off the area far enough to not risk spooking him on Wednesday and if he shows again move in and kill him on Thursday?

Thanks for the advice! That entire property is so thick. I'm setting on a cut corn field but he stayed in the thick grown up field til after dark. The woods he came out of is thick but he was traveling quartering into the wind. That's what a lot of big bucks like to do. If he takes the same path tomorrow the wind will be hitting him in the back. Not ideal for him. Its not a bad wind for the stand I just hunted but would be bad for a tree I was thinking about moving to. I'm thinking about hunting the same tree again Tomorrow, then Friday we should have better weather conditions and wind. I'll go in there and get in a different tree where I can get a better shot. Already know of two I can get in. That's my plan for now. Could change after tomorrow's hunt lol.... thanks again for the good advice.

I went today. Saw about 7. Didn't see anything big. It was pretty hot though.

Looks like Saturdays opportunity may be called on account of Hurricane...36 hrs for it to swing further west or south...glued to the forecast.

Crap shoot, but it goes down a little like this... there's a helluva front coming...there's a crap ton of rain falling....then the prettiest blue sky you've ever seen...before or after is the opportunity.

Heading out for my first hunt after work today! Hoping for a active evening with rain coming thru overnight and into tomorrow morning. Hoping for my shooter buck to walk thru but I'm also looking for meat in the freezer so look out slickheads.

Good luck! I spot & stalked 2 does on my way into stand this afternoon. Unfortunately 1 of them got wise to me at about 62 yards out...
