In this day and age I can't believe I keep hearing news anchors using those terms. What in the heck? It is completely embarrassing to me as an American to hear people using those terms when discussing Presidential candidates and what type of voters they "need" to vote for him/her to win. "The coveted African American vote"=GIVE ME A BREAK. I didn't know all African Americans voted Democrat...if one didn't know any better it is like politicians like to pit whites versus blacks. "The Latino vote"=A Joke...what is that? like all Latinos lump themselves together and vote the same. It is demeaning to lump persons together in a category like some Presidential candidates love to do to garner votes "The middle aged white vote"=interesting choice of words and borderline racist when put into the context some people are using it in these days. Embarrassing.
The sad part is, races do in LARGE part vote strongly in favor of one or another. 90+% of African Americans vote for Obama. The only race that is remotely "even" is white, and it is pretty close to split these days. Rather than say, they need Toms vote, or Harrys vote, they speak in generalities. Same as needing the working class vote. The middle class vote. Unemployed vote. Women vote. Retiree vote. Might could have been worded better, but people need to quit being so sensitive about everything.
As a non-white, female voter... I hate those demographics. Screw you and your pigeon-holeing mainstream media! It amazes me that we are supposed to be post-racial and yet race comes up constantly. I also resent that, as a woman, the media thinks all I really care about is free birth control and unfettered access to abortions. WTF? What I want is unfettered access to my Constitutional rights...
They should have the ignorant F$&@er vote. = voting for the one they base their votes on others opinions vote. Not actually researching and making an educated decision. This come from both sides. I'll be glad when this mess is over! W
Oh lol, I guess I should have separated my statements....The beginning was in response to you....the last statement was a generalization about society in general. I know you are about as thick skinned as they come!
Trevor, I am definitely not mr tough guy and I am sensitive to some stuff, however I feel this constant injection of race and racial statistics into politics is sickening. I am just tired of it and maybe it came off as being sensitive. Have a good one man.
Could you imagine if Obama lost and someone said, "Obama won all the black thug ghetto trash vote" pretty sure it wouldnt be tolerated
