I've only got 3 days of hunting left for the buck I've had 5 encounters with before I jump back In the milk truck Friday on Christmas Day and work through Sunday. When Monday the 28th rolls around there will be no more passing on the doe's If I'm still without this buck. I'll then have 4 days to get It done on a doe hopefully or possibly a good buck If one were to show. My season ends December 31st. How ever this season ends, It's been the most unique deer season I have ever had with one buck In 24 years bow hunting. You know what will happen don't ya? I've been passing doe's 9 times out of the last 10 sits and when I really want to take one the damn things won't show. I've seen that before. For the people who are wondering why I'm not holding out till the end for this buck, I'm In a one tag area. Thanks for all the kind words and good luck wishes with my story's of me and my buck this year. Been fun and frustrating.
Good luck! Weather is suppose to turn pretty nasty around here next few days and I'm sure it's heading your direction, hopefully that will get the deer moving....
January 3rd... we always end on the 1st Sunday in January. Give him heck Steve. I am done pussy footing around with the buck I am after. I am going into his bedding area in the morning. This morning Tyler and I long ranged scouted his bedding area from the tallest hill we could find about a mile away. We saw him and another really good buck. They sized each other up and had a bit of a shoving match. I think they must be pretty equal but it was hard to tell as we were a a mile away watching through the spotting scope. The other buck's rack is light colored and hard to tell just how big he was. The buck I am after is hanging with a small herd of doe/fawns. He still has loving on his mind. A couple other bucks are with them but younger bucks. The buck he was shoving... popped out right north of their bedding area when they were getting back to it. I am thinking about sitting all day in there if I have too. Going to be nasty with all the does but with the bucks feeling owling hopefully there is enough confusion... I can make something work. The bucks stay about 40 yards behind the does just following them... well until one get stupid, rushing in and scatters them. LOL We watched for 1.5 hours this morning. He is spending alot more time up and about in the morning verses a 1/2 hour before dark. I can't get in the bedding area for an afternoon hunt with out blowing them out. Tonight I hung on the edge of the CRP as close as I dared but they just aren't leaving it until after dark. Going to be an interesting day. Good luck again Steve. Text me if you do any good and I will do the same. Tim
