This might help understand the current Federal budget problem. Big numbers are tough to get a handle on. This should help: Why S&P downgraded - this puts it in perspective... • U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000 • Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000 • New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000 • National debt: $14,271,000,000,000 • Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000 Let's remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget: • Annual family income: $21,700 • Money the family spent: $38,200 • New debt on the credit card: $16,500 • Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710 • Total budget cuts: $385 Good thing we don’t all run our household budget like that.
That's pretty simple but yet the politicans can't figure it out. What happened to the brightest people running the country? Now we have people that couln't keep a real job if they had to. Thanks David
I personally believe that part of it is because of people settling on less than acceptable leaders. I am not wagging a stick at anyone in particular but more of as a whole. Politics is also a lot of cloak and dagger stuff and I believe people as a whole are gonna have to want to change that before anything will happen. People should not accept mediocrity or anything less than exceptional leaders. You can't tell me that some of these politicians are America's finest and that it's not possible to find someone better but like I said America as a whole is gonna have to knuckle up and take care of buisness before that can happen.
Interesting (granted, most of us get the idea, but those who continually vote these people into office evidently don't.
The voter's faults that the deficit is high? Interesting….considering the deficit has gone up steadily through 8 yrs of Bush, 2 1/2 years of Obama, and a Congress that has been under both Republican and Democrat control. There was a surplus when Clinton was President.
It is partly to blame on the voters for not standing up and at least trying to stop the defecit from increasing in my opinion. I agree the last 10.5 years have been pretty rough on the economy but the majority of people just whine about it then carry on like nothing is wrong.
Comment wasn't directed at a specific political party, big guy...they're both equally at blame here, and in our current state of affairs equally as worthless. I consider myself an independent and am fully aware of the spending issues we've had within our government within the past decade or so. Our two wars and the exorbitant funding that went with them fell under a republican controlled house and white house. Voter's vote in congressional members (i.e. our current group of "highly motivated" officials not getting anything done). Yes...it is partially the voters to blame whom vote for these self-serving career politicians time and time again. If this country truly wants change, it will (or should) show at the polls. Historically, that hasn't held true even in our roughest of times this past decade.
All politicians know is protecting programs and moneys in there district, and they are not going to let go of anything as long as the current system is in place. Term limits is a must the lifers need to go as well as one term for president, Nasa i understand some on this planet want or need to get off it but why should we pay for it. bla bla bla
Fair enough...I consider myself Independent too...unfortunately independants don't get much support but hopefully that will change in the future
