Here is a little closer pic of the twelve pointer. I think he is only three and a half. He is a lot smaller deer then the one I posted called splitter. Any thoughts. Thanks Scoot
By no means am I an expert but i find myself agreeing with cubs on this one. He just appears older than 3.5 to me.
He's tough. Location may help people answer this question. Atleast 3 1/2 but can't say beyond that. I want to say 41/2 and from there to 5 1/2 its tough to tell difference. Big deer, but his legs don't appear short to me and although he is thick his neck/brisket isn't enormous. Also, his belly doesn't sag and there is a slight sag across his back too. Could be 4 1/2 but I will guess 3 1/2. Regardless nice set of horns! A pic of him last year would really help you determine his age this year.
see how the neck meets the bottom of his brisket and the front half of his body looks like one mass. i would say he is 4.5 if not 5.5
I would say he is 4.5 Looks like if he was in a standing position his belly would curve up before it got to the leg, his neck don't go all the way to his head, his brisket is starting to drop but not hanging down, his head is the same in length from nose to his head as it is from nose to jaw but short from jaw to head not making that perfect triangle seen usually on 5.5 and older deer, and does have a little sway to the back. My suggestion is shoot him and get his jaw and we will know for sure. Nice buck ,but just think what he will look like next year or two.
THat buck is as old as he would get if I saw him...guess is 4.5 due to mass/muscle, belly, tiny drop in the back, negligable gray on muzzle...does depend on where you are at to.
