No it wasn't tht guy he was killed across the highway but a high school kid. It was his first buck with a bow so I didn't razz him. But man that deers body was small. 2.5 yr old giant for sure

Congrats TJ. So, I'm assuming it was a single lung only since it was such a steep angle shot?

Ya one lung, the stand isnt really that high but he was at like 5 yds. Second shot was a touch back but enough that he went right down.

Congrats TJ! That's a heck of a good deer. So cool that you found your girls deer too. I might've missed it, but how close was her deer from where you last stopped looking?

Dude we walked passed it within a matter aof a few yards several times. Even the dogs were less then 20 ish yds from it. The is two areas of unbelievably thick cane and grass. 12+ ft tall and you can barely walk through it. I thought we had searched it all pretty good but you literally have to step on it. You cant see other than where you stand. The yotes had drug it out to the edge of that thick stuff...

So some of you know my FIL is a very well known taxidermist and wildlife scupltor. If you have been to a Cabelas you have seen his work. Anyway he scaled back his business this year and cut out the taxi and game processing to slow down some and focus on sculpting. I have been hinting to him for years how badly I want to learn the taxi stuff. ( I already do alot of tanning and other similar stuff) So yesterday I am talking to him about my deer and he says... I really don't understand why you arent mounting it yourself. You really already know how... it isn't rocket science. I replied... you know I want to. He said get a form, I will walk you through it. Sooooo imma get taught and mount this dude myself!!!! Pretty stoked!!
