Thanks guys, it was a crazy day for sure. The deer have been on fire the last week here. My time in the stand has been limited between work and family. I wanted to hunt yesterday BAD, but I only had a couple hours to hunt midday so I sat the creek behind the house (saw nothing) then checked cams. Clean 10 had been under one of may stand from 830 am -130 pm. I was sick,, felt like I had missed my chance. I had all day to hunt today, last night my lil man helped pack me some food for an all dayer. He insisted I take my lunch in his Fraggle Rock lunch box. (thanks buddie!!) I honestly didn't want to haul the big thing in my pack but I did... He said it would work... he was right.

I woke up to single digits a dusting of snow and blistering wind.... off I went. I hit the stand and got set up. At 0700 he showed, directly downwind and he didn't like it, he skirted west and disappeared. I was feeling worn, I didn't think with my already numbing toes, that I would make it to the first PB&J sandwich. 20 minutes later I see a deer enter the foodplot a couple 100 yds north. I tried to get a make on him but couldn't. I figured it was one of my regular 8pts. He worked the scrape and came my way. I got the camera on and waited for him to clear the thick stuff. He pops through and BAM its him!!! Killer mode kicks in, I check again, yes its him. 50 yds-40-30-20-10-5, he is right under me. I check the camera to insure he is in frame and focused. I begin to draw and he looks right at me! Busted at half draw, I hold he turns, I pull back and shoot. THWACK, pass through, I see blood in the snow, arrow looks good. He runs 40 yds and stops. I get the camera on him thinking he is about to fold......DAMN I see it!!!!! I'm not recording!! ^%@$#%^@&&** UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I watch him for another 10 minutes as my concern begins to grow and I start to question the shot (THAT I DIDNT GET ON CAMERA DAMMIT). I'm thinking he is acting gut shot but I know better. I wait 30 min and get down to look, arrow is soaked in lung blood, pools of blood and a great trail. I'm ALREADY CELEBRATING. Dead deer. NOPE. I call backup and hit the trail. Almost two hours have past. Blood goes from excellent to nothing!!!

Grid search begins and.... WE FIND ADDY'S BUCK whole nother story but found my daughters first and lost buck SCORE.

Grid search more BAM find blood!!! Begin to track another 100 yds or so and there he is, standing in the creek bottom lookin sick. UGH I make a failed stalk to get another shot. He runs 150 yds and beds down. I creep to 60yds and watch, and watch, and watch, and watch......finally I sneek a lil closer 50 yds, I tell my buddy to give a yell when I hit full draw ( He was bedded and I needed him to stand for a clear shot ) I rise, he whistles, I shoot..... thwack!!!! He went another 20 yds and it was over wooooo hooooooo

    better pics coming tomorrow fellas....

Wow, that was a story. Congrats again

On a side note, I didn't think they made fraggle rock stuff anymore. Remember getting to watch that in school back in the early 80's.
