2018 I stinking kill a 175" before the first week of October was done and then life and limited time kept me out of the club.
What a list. Wow. I hope I can join that list this year. Got a couple pretty big ones in Illinois that may be close.
@fletch920 if for no other reason down a doe to join the 200 point club! Unlike when I killed my 175 and failed to add to it like the fool I am LOL
Brother, I pray if heaven has hunting this was the year you do! Miss you my man. Your smile, and your constant encouraging.
He shot a 200" buck last year. If I remember correctly it was 207" Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
OP is updated for 2020 and 2021 included. Couple guys already this year that if they down a second deer for the contest will hit 200...actually both would hit 225 also.
I haven't killed a 150 since 2011 and may go another year without shooting a doe. This isn't looking good for me.
Well this is kind of a shame how this is scored. I mean come on... lol. A 150 from my state is few and far between and a much different animal than their midwest counterparts. Youre excluding many of us on the east coast. The scoring needs an equalizer to include us poor folks.. lol.
If i checked my doe last year woulda eeked in at 200-1/8. . If i find the buck i shot sunday i should make it this year but thats not looking too good
I've lived and hunted in IL my entire life, and I've killed exactly one deer over 150 inches. I have a wall full of 4+ year old deer that don't break that number. Hell, some of them don't break 130. Either I suck, my hunting spots suck, it's not as easy as people think, or a little bit of all of those. BTW - I'm currently hunting 3 different farms in IL that, in total, span close to 1,000 acres. On those farms I have *maybe* two deer that will score over 150 inches. It's going to be pretty close on both of them - one is 5 years old, the other is 6.
I got to have a laugh with a good friend of mine. He told me at a wedding he was recently at he met a guy from somewhere (far from the midwest) cant remember exactly where. He was family of bride or groom. They started talking deer hunting and the guy said he would be in town for a couple days “where can i go see some of these huge Illinois bucks”? My buddy chuckles and then sees the seriousness in this fellas face. Buddy if we knew we’d be there ourselves. I guess he thought that boon and crockett bucks just hang out by the roadsides on the regular for all to gaze in awe
Looking over the names it isn't shocking to see a TON of repeaters harkon from Iowa or Kansas....just saying. Although many of us here are not shocked one bit by that.
Whatever happened to Chago? He always got great bucks. I remember being on a team with him one year. I should have been on this list for 2020 when I shot a 164" but I chose not to shoot a doe that year. I was concentrating on getting my granddaughter a buck. She ended up shooting a 135" 11 point in December.
