    Here is my first whitetail of the season. His antler score won't be very good but I could care less. It's my opinion that he's a 4.5 yr. old. Possibly just a 3.. but a 3 with an above average body size. He should break in at 220-230 lbs. on the hoof.. and I wouldn't be surprised if he went more.

    WNW winds at 7-10 mph.. about 70 degrees.. hunting near a pond..

    What time did you shoot him? What was he doing, going to water, acorns etc?

    Man, he is a big ol mature buck. He looks 4.5 to me. Good buck. Nice going buddy.

    I believe going to water.. eventually. I had to coax him in a little with the trusty True Talker. One soft doe bleat got his attention.. and two gentle buck grunts sent him on his way over.

    It's a swamp rat Buckeye.. no acorns here. They browse on the Hawthorn and Buckthorn leaves mostly.

    Time of shot.. 4:45 pm. Deer fell within 40 yards and within sight.. my favorite kind.

    That is a huge animal. I too would guess him at 4.5, and around here we call that a marshmoose!
