They probably didn't weigh her so it was an estimate.

Also remember it is live weight (or dead in this case) so that puts her at 150-160 dressed. Not that uncommon.

I agree it's a big doe but not a big stretch to be in the 200# range live.

But most likely it was a 170# doe that picked up 30# as it fell from the sky.

Well from a quick google search a fawn at birth can weigh between 4-8 pounds. So if we go with your theory that she had two twins ready at the end of their gestation, then she is 184 live weight, which would mean she is around 140. That's a big doe but not unheard of at all. And all of this is assuming they actually weighed her.

Going 70 on the Jane Addams, eh? Doesn't she know the speed limit is 55 around these parts? :D

That's right by our office. I wonder which overpass it was.

I saw this on the new yesterday. She was lucky!

I almost saw something like this happen years back. I was driving from PA to DC. I was on the interstate(95 I think). The north bound traffic was on a high hill and the South bound tracking was down below. I was behind a minivan and a huge doe, jumped from the hill above and her hoofs hit the luggage rack on this minivan. She hit the ground, slid a little, and ran off. If that van had been 1 sec slower or I was going a little faster, she would have we came through the windshield. Scary stuff!

Lucky the news crew didn't get video of you chasing it.

When I was in high school, my girlfriends father was driving home from work one evening, deer crossed the road, went directly into his windshield, ended up mostly in the backseat, and proceeded to beat the living hell out of her dad while it was trying to get out. He got the station wagon stopped pretty quickly and got out.

I happened to be at the house when he came walking to the door. He looked like someone had tried to murder him.

We lived way out in the sticks, this was way before cell phones existed, so he ended up walking about a mile or so to get home. Whenever I see a dead deer or live deer by the side of the road, I always think of my girlfriends dad walking down some country road soaked in blood.

It was the one West of Woodfield Mall and East of the old Motorola building. Rt 72 overpass I believe as well. Tons of Forest Preserves out that way too. Shed hunted one of them last spring you could literally count about 100 deer walking a single file line and totally used to people.

It's illegal to remove sheds from forest preserves in IL. Especially in Crook County. Just an FYI in case the friendly CPO stops you on your way out and wants to see what's in your back pack...
