Few days ago I was out in the AM. About 9:00 I hear a combine! I'm about 100 yards or so off a standing corn field that borders my property. I see the green beast slowly work it's way towards me cutting it's first row. SWEET!! I say to myself. Finally they are going to harvest the dang corn that has surrounded my land for the entire season. Couldn't be better for the last week and a half of my season. Gun hunters have all but packed it in for the year and I'm about the only idiot left in the woods. This could really make my land on fire for the late season. So he gets to the edge of the field, makes another pass back up and then .... POOF he's gone! He just up and packed it in never to come back. Fields weren't too wet to harvest. He just quit and hasn't come back lol . That was kind of cruel. I think maybe he was messing with me.

I'd be on that edge with the few rows cut. That's a deer magnet.

I love when the the first several rows are cut and the rest remains.

That's kind of funny. He is probably checking moisture levels in the corn. The ground may not be too wet but it costs alot more to have the corn dried if the moisture levels are too high. He'll probably be back soon and then you should probably be there too.

i work in a grain elevator...and as far as ive seen... the corn is as dry as it's gonna get... we're dumping 19% (which is HUGE compared to the 37% we saw at the start of harvest)......

they really should do what this guy did more often... i think what he was doing, more or less, was opening up the fields so they can run a grain cart next to the concubine (intentional) to keep those drums spinnin... you lose money sittin on the end rows dumping into a truck

basically he cut you some shooting lanes... lets hope it's a sloppy old deere and leaves more of his payload on the ground...
