So I ventured up and read a few titles & threads in the bowhunting section. Ugh! Garbage. I'll stay here and argue about beer
Did the same thing myself a few days ago, I was repelled by the several threads with the title "Which broadsheads are the best"...
Tell me where I hit my deer, my rage didn't open, I shot a 180" typical in Georgia, double lunged him but I only have 2 spots of blood....found him 3 days later, it was actually a basket 6pt
I went up a couple times last week... only to discover that it's mostly kids.... with horrible equipment and no clue, whatsoever. Beer me!
I never realized how many people on this forum were born with all the knowledge and equipment necessary to be a succesful bowhunter. Some questions are dumb, but you all need to realize that not everyone comes from a hunting family and has easy access to a mentor that will guide them through these issues. Instead of insulting them why don't you play the role of a good ambassador for hunting and share some of your infinite outdoors wisdom, if their ignorance irritates you so much that you can't handle it just ignore the thread and I'm sure someone else will help them.
Wow! The moral police double-timed it... and brought back-up! :D Gentlemen, if you do not (or cannot) recognize humor -dry and/or sarcastic, as it may be- I'd watch how much time I spent down here in the water cooler. You'll likely end up hating the majority of us in record time!
I'm actually the opposite, Ryan. After much of the offseason spent down here, I'm reading a lot more up in the main sections. Some good stuff in there. Granted, I know you were being sarcastic:D
Just in case everyone forgot - the entire point of this website is for people to come here and ask questions, learn about bowhunting and share in the sport that we all love. So yes, there are people who are inexperienced that will have "dumb" questions. There are people who will have old equipment. There are people who legitimately don't know what they're doing and make mistakes. However I think it's important to remember were were all there at some point in our bowhunting career. It's our responsibility as the older, wiser, more experienced members to help answer those questions, encourage people to make good decisions and help foster the sport of bowhunting. As if hiding out in here talking about sports and TV shows is somehow "better".
It is better because I don't hunt, haha Here's a news flash and I will get some grief for this comment. The majority of new hunters do not have a high hunting IQ, because we don't need one to kill a deer these days. Populations are way to high in a lot of areas, the deer are boxed in by developments and have no where to go. We buy gadets and gear to make up for their lack of hunting knowledge in hopes we can get a quick and easy kill without putting in the work. Take your average bowhunting.com member and do a little data mining and I would bet we find some intersting ideas on what good bowhunting tactics mean to them. We now have our first Generation of hunters who leanred to hunt more from TV shows and the internet than their fathers and grandfathers, and they learned from xbox also. Remember anyone can post "tatics" on the internet So is this Generation going to take the time to learn about arrow spine, FOC and true broadhead flight, no they are not. Lee and Tiffany use brand X arrow with brand X broadhead and shoot a Mathews. They where scent blocker, lacross boots and realtree camo. Ok I went to Bowhunting.com I bought all their gear, now here comes my wall hanger!!!!!!!!! And there you go
