It is starting to sound like Thanksgiving is going to be a challenge, could be actual, could be media panic. I am going to start today shopping for Thanksgiving picking up a turkey at lunchtime (if they have them). I am going to go once a week to pick up what I want if they have it. I may keep receipts just to document why I am pissed about inflation. Thanksgiving prayer will end with let's go Brandon.

luckily, I had 2 20+lb birds given to me last year, they have been in the freezer ever since ... so at least that will cover Thanksgiving and Christmas, its all the sides and goodies that will cost, we'll do a big ham for New Years .... went to the 'store' yesterday, it is running at least 30% higher than it was back under the good 'ol Trump administration ... saw a lady spend over $300, and it was all in one cart .... middle to lower income people feel this harder than the elites ...

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday, Wednesday is a national party night, Thursday holiday with football on TV, followed by Friday off. Does not get any better.

So I scored a 14 pound turkey, 4 cans of green beans for the green bean casserole, and a mega pack of TP. $58.42

We did the same thing. Get the turkey early in case of shortages.

Cub had plenty of turkeys, some were complaining that they were not big enough. I figure a 14 pound bird should be enough for 6 people.

I am not a turkey person - but I may need to decide what to make to take to the three dinners I have (I hate holidays due to that).

We will see. Heck, Christmas is only two months away - probably should start fixing for that, too (no joke).

You better invite about 6 more people over or you have a lot of big eaters there. That thought has me thinking of some movie I saw where the family is just plowing though the dinner.

I tend to see myself agreeing with what you have to say with just about every topic on the forum lately, besides the packers. Hell I'll admit watching Rodgers on the Pat McAfee show made me even slightly dislike him less.

Maybe it's just our conservative rural MN lives that line up pretty well or maybe it's a cause for concern for me?

Well I am a Minnesota sports fan, except for that viking thing. I did grow up rural my family moved to Monticello in 1973 back when it was still small family farms. I spent some time in Elk River but for the most part I have lived in the country. I love living where I do now farm country. I go outside in the morning to walk the dogs I hear cows impatient waiting to get fed and milked, roosters crowing, and it gets dark at night.

My two favorite sides for thanksgiving:
    Sweet potato souffle
A family mashed (real, not instant) potato dish (includes sautéed onion, celery and sausage, cream, S&P.)

So are we under the assumption that Turkey will not be .75-$1.00 a pound this year with a $25 or more purchase?

Why is turkey already hard to find when demand has not even hit? Are you roasting a turkey for Halloween?

Here's an idea, don't buy a turkey now and wait for a week before Nov. 28th. Plenty of time to thaw a frozen 18lb turkey, and even less time for exploiting something that is not real.
