So the spot I spent a lot of time searching for and finally finding will be gone soon. I got the word yesterday that they will be logging that area this week. Was a sweet spot, 3 trails converge where the deer have been heading up to a soybean field off our property. Pretty much sucks, season opens October 15th and I don't really want to push any deer off searching for another area, looks like I may be doing some stalk hunting to start the season out while I look for a new spot for my Lone Wolf climber!

That spot should be awesome to hunt next year. Usually deer move into an area after it is logged because of all the owned tree tops.

It can be awesome this year... I used to hunt paper company property and killed many a deer right after a logging operation. New green growth pops up everywhere and a little wheat seed thrown down can give you an instant green field and those limb piles make great blinds. Its not an obstacle... its an opportunity!

Yup I just have to wait until they finish to see how much and exactly where they took out and work it from there. I'll be on this hunting club lease until I get moved somewhere else by the Army so hopefully next year have a nice setup. I am still looking at land for once I retire, and thinking either Illinois, Wisconsin or Maine that I can buy now and eventually build on once I'm out of the Army
