Here are a couple of pictures. I don't have many close up left because they were on my phone and it died.

It was the biggest head I have ever seen a buck have. He had to get the biggest whitetail form for it.

I wouldn't be too mad, in fact i wouldn't be mad at all....You brought him an ugly old buck and that what he gave you back. I really don think its too bad considering the original version.
The only thing I think he should have warned about you on was the form. The angle on that form presents the bucks wide angular forehead front and center, with its shape and the reddish color it really cant help but stand out.

I wouldn't be upset at all.

That explains some of it but then again he may look completely different and look great in person. I agree with Trial that, that particular form doesn't really help him look his best either. Main thing I was concerned about was the eyes looking tight and the wrinkles in the front shoulder area don't look quite realistic...like they don't fit there. That said the eyes may not look like that, could be the angle of the pic.

I hear what you are saying. I have never used that type of form or a wall pedestal before. That was his idea and he pushed it pretty hard so I figured I would let him do what he thought would look best.

first thing is you got a nice buck! but not to be a downer but that mount makes that deer look dead. my wife lets me put them on the wall if they look alive and life like. I think your taxi should have added some props to make it look more alive. the props could have also covered up some of the original imperfections the deer originally had. I am an eye detail guy. the eyes on a mount are what create the life like atmosphere around the mount. if the eyes are done badly to me it just ruins it. looking at your picture again I think a lip curl pose might have been a better choice to hide his eyes from looking so sunkin in. like it was stated above maybe he had an employee do it for him? my taxi did all my mounts until I found he had a hired hand then I got nervous that he wasn't going to do my deer and his help was, so I went somewhere else. on a good note the antler reconstruction is great!

if you were in PA I would suggest Whitetail Country Taxidermy in St. Mary's, PA. Jeff is unbelievable and is a past state champion taxidermist. look him up sometime.

I don't think the Taxi screwed up. Nice buck with an incredibly huge Roman nose. Whats the PC term for that.
Not to hijack but i thought i read somewhere that it is a Genetic defect?
