I'm new to bowhunting. Always been on the to do list, but in the service overseas for 7 years held up my entrance into this game. The house commander (wife) let me break off some dough for a bow, so I went down and picked up a PSE Brute X, in Skullworks camo. Grabbed a target, 1/2 doz arrows, field points and a Plano case. Also have a Scott Wildcat release. I've only had about 4 hrs on it, and I can shoot a 5 in group fairly consistently at 20 yards. Have yet to sight in my 30 & 40 yd pins. Initial tuning was done by the great guys at Bass Pro in Rancho Cucamonga. Specs: Draw 28.5" @ 60lbs Arrows Blackout Envy X5 340, 2" vanes w/ Trophy Ridge 125G field points. I figured if I want to hunt next season, I need to start practicing now. If there are any other SoCal hunters, hit me up. I'm not familiar with the west coast at all.
Thanks for the kind words fellas. Thinking of spending the dough for an hour with an instructor to help me with bow tuning and my form. I'd rather spend a few bones to build a solid foundation now than have to work through bad habits later on. I feel like I could used another 1/2 - 1" of more draw length now that my muscles and bow are starting to break in.
new group. <--pic link Getting tuned up. 2 on right are field points & el solo is my broad head. @ 40yards in flip flops and only a 4 shot warmup.
Thanks for the compliments. With a little luck and a lot of scouting I'll be able to tag my first buck this year.
