Okay... so tell me what you think this buck scored and guess it's age.

I think all ya'lls know the story on him.

I didn't attempt to score him but we were told his gross score the other day and Deb and I were both a bit surprised. It's not what we guessed. (granted we didn't spend much time looking at the thing.)

Looks like he has a pretty decent frame. I'd say he goes around 158".

Some weirdo that spotted an antler while looking for her own buck... which she still has not found. :(

I'm gonna take a wild stab here. 182" gross. He's got super mass and you get to measure that 8x. Going on that mass 5.5 at least.

'Crick, yep that's the guy who shot it.

OutdrDave, not really much of a story. Deb, Louie, K and I were headed out to look for the buck that I hit. (looked like a liver hit so we waited 4 hours to go look) Saw this buck's antler sticking out of the brush. We looked at briefly and then called it in to the park manager who called the CPO.

My buck crossed the fence so we had to call the people who lease the neighboring property. In the past there had been some real issues in trying to retrieve deer from over there. Happily, I was allowed to track my buck with the guy who manages the leased property. We tracked my buck a short way to the river's edge where it bedded down and then rolled/fell into the river when it died. The river was way up, muddy and the buck still has not been recovered. We did bring a canoe the next day and try to find it but the river is deep there (8-10 ft) with bunches of log jams and current was too strong to search effectively. In fact a guy just died in that river last week when his canoe tipped. :(

So anyhow, we told the guy who manages the lease about the buck we found since it was likely that it was shot over there. Indeed, a guy hunting about 100 yards from the fence had said he shot a big framed buck during the firearms season several days earlier. There was no way to prove that it was or wasn't his buck but we have no reason to doubt his story. So, the next day the park manager; the lease manager; the hunter; and Deb and I met up in the woods, where the hunter then tagged and took possession of the buck.

Any more stabs at score and age?? Some guys try to age bucks on antler mass and base size... so that's all you have to go on with that. (and plaque on his teeth) :D

Hey, don't make fun of Big Green. :)

I bet it has better spring shackles than the wuss ones on my Chevy. One broke on Saturday. So, I've driving around with the annoying clunk of leaf spring vs. underside of truck bed. :(
