Tell me what you know (or think you know) about reading deer sign. Be it tracks, rubs, scrapes, bedding areas. How do you determine you're game plan based on what you see in the woods. This is where I struggle a little when it comes to deer hunting. I'd like to know what you do.
I consider myself pretty good at reading deer sign. I spen enough time in the woods to know.. and I've read on the subject greatly. Not to mention I've listened in to some very good hunters who have always told it like it was. There is far too much info. to give with such a broad question. But I will tell you a story I once read in Natl. Geographic. It was about a man who was hunting in the congo.. and american who was astounded by the abilities of the tracker. A man who worked very slowly with no blood trail for like 10 miles... tracking an animal in the darkest daylight on earth.. a dense forest! But still tracked down the animal and the hunter got his shot. The guide said that all these tribesmen were such unbelievable trackers.. and when the hunter asked why they were.. the guide simply said.. because they don't know what time is. It's as simple as that. Do not rush.. keep good wits.. stay focused.. SLOW down everything. Things will begin to stick out at you. I've also learned just how important ones imagination is when reading sign. Trust it. If you got a more specific Q.. maybe some guys could chime in. Common sense.. an imagination.. and an ability to SLOW down everything will make you a better sign reader (tracker).
