I shot about 20 arrows tonight at my field tip target. Sights are close, just need a little adjusting. I didn't feel it when I shot, but once I came inside I had a quarter size blood blister on my forearm. I had a long sleeved shirt on and noticed my sleeve was in between the string and string stop after each shot. I shot closed and open grip with my left hand, thinking open grip would keep the string off your arm. Sorry for the basic question, I'm new and trying to understand.
Make sure you aren't locking your elbow, it should be slightly bent. You grip should also be open, and all that does is keep you from torquing your bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Are you shooting with any bend in your elbow? If not try that and see if you still have the same problem. When I first started shooting I would get a big whelp on my arm from the string hitting it. My problem was that I was shooting with my arm completely straight. Hope this helps.
Sounds like your locking your arm which might indicate your draw length is a 1/2" to long or more Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
Yeah, yeah roll that elbow to the outside creating a dogleg in your arm...or get bit by the string enough and you will naturally run from that area. I like to shoot with long sleeves and have drawn blood with my bow.... I can shoot in a T-shirt and Know where Not to be.... Shoot More...
Its your grip. Your improper grip is forcing your forearm into the string path and it really has little to do with elbow or draw length. This will help BowTube.com Bowhunting Videos and Video Clips - Get A Grip
DO NOT TURN YOUR ELBOW OUT, this will create bone to bone alignment issues. Like I stated, fix the grip and the issue should go away.
that happened to me when I was "death griping" the bow lol that's what the guy at my local shop called it at least, fix your grip I shoot with my arm looked guy who taught me to shoot really knows what he's talking about and shoots comp regularly. if your grips wrong that will torque your whole setup and put your arm in the path of your string.
I corrected my grip and all is now well, have better accuracy as well. Thanks again for all the info.
