More of vent thread, going to be kind of long, but here we go. I had a nice long Veterans day weekend. Spent a lot of time in the woods.
-Saturday Morning: I woke up on my own about 3am. So I shower check my pack, eat breakfast. Its 4am now. Took my time. I decided it would be better to get an early start instead of hearing the wrath of my wife from making any noise and waking her up. I arrive to parking spot about 420am, I drove really slow. Unpack truck, spray myself in no stank and walk. I hit the woods after the field walk, about 100 feet in I hear something that's sounds large and in charge. Cant see it, but it made a loud "blowing" noise, I panicked and didn't really know what to do, so I stopped dead in my tracks and blew back. I was rewarded with another blow, i repeated doing my best to imitate this odd noise. This went on for about 15-20 min. All while I was climbing tree, they never left, just kept yelling at me. I'm finally all set up and all snivel gear is on. 545am, suns coming up but not good enough to see clear. I hear the suspect and few others walking away from me, no running, just walking. Im kind of upset, but figured this is going to be an awesome morning. Well i was wrong, stayed out till 1130 and saw nothing else. ugh.
-Sunday: I walk out to stand and, no arguments with anyone. Nothing all day.
-Monday: Wife wants to take me to Veterans day breakfast, I slept in. Went out to woods around 2:30pm. Nothing.

Pretty depressing weekend, for some reason the corn is still standing. I'm going to blame my not seeing any deer to that. Really hope the corn gets cut soon. I still have 2 in the freezer so I'm still doing ok I suppose.
    Thanks for listening.

Sounds like a neat encounter you had. That's why it's called hunting and not killing.

You might want to change your morning entrance route if you are bumping deer on your way in. Try swinging really wide and coming into your stand from the other direction.

    Keep at it. Good luck.

So over a three day period you had one pre-dawn experience and the other days unfortunately nothing?

That's hunting...last year I hunted over 200 hours at our new place due to countless all day sits...it happens.

It can all change in 1 minute though...but a 3 day stretch is nothing just being honest.

Side note: It was a really cool experience that morning. I'm not really to upset, I have 2 down. Its all part of it, and a lot of fun.

Yep, it really only takes a few seconds to turn a season on its head (sometimes for the better...sometimes for the worst). That's why we keep doing what we do through thick and thin:D

That's CLASSIC bigfoot behavior. You did the right thing by making the sound back. Had you not you probably would have been attacked. They were walking around trying to figure out what to do. You're lucky to be alive!
    Its going to be OK:nana:

If I don't see deer within 3 hours, I get down and still-hunt the rest of the day. Shot my buck last season on the ground. Try mixing it up alittle!
