I'm going on a trip in a few days and would like to be able to get on the internet while I'm there, it would be real handy to look at air photos of the area. I know nothing about a wifi hot spot. So I have a few questions for those that are more tech smart than me.
Can I use it while driving down the road? Will it work in the middle of no where? We have AT&T now so I assume I will have to pay somebody to be able to use it, correct? All I really want to be able to do is access google earth.
Here is what I was looking at but have no idea if this is what I need or will work. Any help would be great.

If you have cell coverage the wifi will work, no matter if you are driving or on the move. It is a handy item to have just keep in mind when it is on you are using time just like talking on a cell phone, but heck most people have unlimited minutes these days

So if I don't have cell coverage the hot spot wont work? If that's the case there is no point cause there is very poor cell coverage up there.

Topog maps and a compass make for a good backup.

An alternative is a app that lets you download the maps you need and overlay your gps location (e.g. as a dot). I believe some (perhaps) older versions of Google maps or earth allow you to store some maps in advance.

I've got a ND gazetteer, a ND plots map and a plat book that tells me who owns what and the property lines. The plots is very small so its hard to get any detail out of it but you can blow it up online and see what you need to. And just because it says there is a road on the map doesn't mean there is one there in ND. I can also use a blown up version of the plots map with blown up aerial photos to get a better idea of where I'm at and what I'm looking for. I'm thinking of maybe blowing up the pics I want and then printing them. I'm sure it can be done I don't know if I have the skill to do it.
I've been going up there for 12-13 years so I know my way around some but i'm always looking for the little honey hole that's just over the hill!!
