Most of us seem to have quit watching a majority of the hunting shows or it seems that way whenever a hunting show thread starts. What non-hunting show that are related to unting and the outdoors do you like? I like Shooting USA. I was always good at shooting guns and even taking them apart and putting them back together but this show really helps me understand guns and shooting. I enjoy it a lot. I also like Best Defense Survival. Very interesting show with a lot of good information. Sometimes a touch dramatic LOL but never really overboard. Anyone else watch these two? Haven't had a dvr very long but I record these shows now. My daughter and I have started watching some fishing shows together. She loves fishing so I am slowly picking that up again.
Uh...well, I loved Survivorman when it was on, and Anthony Bourdain occasionally hunts on No Reservations, which might be my favorite show on TV. I missed the new Travel show called The Wild Within last night, but it's premise is about hunting and living off the land, so I'll need to set the DVR for next Sunday to catch it. I haven't watched anything on the Outdoor Channel in forever, most of it is pretty awful.
My kids and I will watch Survivorman and anything on the National Geographic Channel. In fact, one of my favorite things to do in life is to get them in my bed, have my two year old ask "science show science show", then we put on something science show wise and fall asleep. They ask all kinds of wild questions based on what is happening with the animals/planet, etc. My son was asking about heaven, death, and everything else last night based on some chimpanzee show.
Though No Reservations is one of my favorite shows, I have never seen Anthony hunt. In fact, I believe he is anti-hunting. One show in Africa the guy he was with was going to shoot some animal and Anthony was totally against it. He was happy when the animal got away. On the Outdoor Channel, I only watch the hunting shows.....mostly for entertainment. I find the fishing, shooting and gearhead shows extremely boring.
I know he hunted and killed a stag in New Zealand. He has also killed and butchered a pig on his show. And surprisingly enough, he is friends with Ted Nugent.
I still like Deer and Deer Hunting TV due to the educational content. I also enjoyed Survivorman as well. If I really want to watch something hunting related I will watch Heartland Bow hunter. Admittedly I don't watch much TV these days. If I am watching TV it's either sports, kids shows or House. That is about it.
I watch both of these, definitely helps me understand more about guns. I've been on a gun kick for the last few months and have been watching these for awhile. The tactical training stuff is fun to watch too. I watch a few fishing shows, like Tailwalker and The Hunt for Big Fish, Larry lives a 1/4 mile from me so it's kinda fun to see someone you know on tv.
I am a bass angler at heart I never really followed any shows and still dont, but I saw a bass show were they had divers go down to the structure they were fishing and show how the bass where holding to it. I thought that was neat to see how they relate to the cover. I am not sure if I get the show or not or even whats its called but I would watch it again
I dont watch too many fishing shows. Sometimes if they are trout fishing in a cool place I will. Other than that....nope I do try and watch almost all the gun shows. Some of them get a little too overboard in the tactical/military stuff.
I tried watch the gold prospecting show on the outdoor channel. Its an interesting concept but the most boring show I've ever seen. I can't get into watching fishing, but watching people noodle (hogging) for catfish is pretty entertaining.
I'm going to bump this because I finally watched The Wild Within last night. Very good show. Much better production than anything on VS or the Outdoor channel, and the guy isn't about trophy hunting, just meat hunting. I like it.
