There is more work done from a desk, or the couch, than you would think. One GW in a state doesn't speak for another one that is the entire country away...

BBD I'm sure we have all come across a GW that is trying to flex their muscles more than trying to do their job, or have had instances where GW's won't put the effort forward that we would like them to do. But at least in one way or another, they are devoting their life to helping catch people like ted who poach animals. It's more than I can say for myself. I will report someone when I see it, but am not willing to make that type of work my living.

I for one, love Uncle Ted. He's a great American, but if what he did was wrong, its wrong and he should own up to it.

I'm going to see him next weekend at the Restore Hope gathering at the Lincoln Memorial, I hope he is full on UNCLE TED!

I imagine if someone filmed themselves robbing a bank and put it on youtube it would be wrong for a "couch" cop to then arrest them for breaking the law.

I have worked with GW's and have seen them do more for involving youths in hunting and fishing in one year than ted has done in his lifetime. They did these things on their time when they could have been on the couch, not government time.

It's funny, a GW does his job, arrests a game law breaker, and he gets slammed for "working from the couch" yet, when someone (no one in this thread) knows of a poacher but won't even turn him in, the GW gets slammed for "working from the couch" and not catching him.

What a load of BS

I really enjoy watch Ted's crazy butt on TV, and I'm sure that there is a lot of "behind the scenes" action that happens in all the outdoors shows that we as couch potatoes do not get to see. We all know consistently shooting 170' plus deer on film week in and week out doesn't just happen, or we would all be on TV. Whether its baiting deer, or having a diver put a fish on a hook. I'm not condemning him or do I promote what he did.

I do however look down upon his draft dodging. Specially since he goes out of his way to talk about being an American. As a former Marine and a Vet that is the highest form of cowardice in MY OPINION.

I have alot of respect for nugent, but he has to realize that he can get busted just as fast as the rest of us who break a law. A law is a law and there is nothing you can do about it, and arguing or fighting it is only going to make things worse. Your still a cool dude ted but you have to watch yourself.

Funny, this is how I feel about baiting :poke:

I'm also not sure how any of this has anything to do with same sex marriages

I think Ted will be OK, and maybe a little more careful the next time he's after his "Spiritual Sustenance"

Love him or hate him, it don't really matter to me. Terrible Ted has entertained me in various ways over the years. While it was never a secret that he was against the Viet Nam war, he also didn't go out of his way to keep reminding people. Now if Ted broke the law, then Ted should man up, take his lumps and will most likely have some sort of settlement that has a segment of a show that deals with the subject of knowing the game laws when hunting out of state. I'm actually more surprised that Ted would shoot such a trophy.

Here is my view of the FACTS.

Ted broke the law and then broadcast it on national TV.

My view: Pretty dumb and if they don't fine him for that it's wrong.

The game warden caught Ted by watching a hunting show.

My view: Holy crap, a GW watches hunting shows?!?! What's he supposed to watch, the Real Houswives of New Jersey?

Ted admitted his mistake and paid all fines.

My view: Good on him. A man admits his mistakes.

There is a lot of conjecture and accusation in this thread

My view: I feel we should make sure our own closets are clean before we start going through others' closet to find their skeletons. Now where's my dust rag and Lysol? I've got a lot of work to do.

This may be just what Ted needed, a big awakining slap in the putz. I like Ted, dont get into his exotic hunting but respect him as a Bowhunter any how!! As far as how the Warden used the tube to catch him :busted: I dont see the gripe there!! If a robery is caught on camera and the perpatrators get caught, then more power to the law enforcement for using the camera as a tool. getting caught is getting caught no matter how its done!!

I've never really cared for Ted, personally, but he is just a man who made a mistake. I do think it is very strange for a guy of his stature in the bowhunting community to break not one but two laws unknowingly. Either he honestly didn't know the law or he just didn't care.

Noel Feather got caught breaking game laws about 15 years ago and that was the last he was heard from. We probably won't get so lucky with Uncle Ted.

Surprised a MARINE of all people would like a DRAFT DODGER COWARD.....:jaw: Sure he's made efforts to make up for his draft dodging, but there were over but some 58K men who didn't lost their lives there, another 300k were wounded, and another 1700 were missing from it, while he was literally POOPING and PEEING his pants to ensure he wouldn't pass his physical...... Near as I can tell, if a guy was a COWARD in his late teens early 20's, he's gonna be a COWARD the rest of his life.

As a VETERAN from a family of MANY VETERANS, (OVer 100yrs of service from my Grandparent's to my generation including a retiree, a couple disable veterans, and one grandfather who was a POW in WWII) Ted did the ultimate of cowardice, and would never have my respect. Consider his High Fence hunting that he does more than a little of, and his obnoxiousness, I'm surprised anybody cares for him.

Noel wasn't independently wealthy enough to get past that, but he was a pioneer of rattling, and is responsible for a GREAT many people taking antlers to the woods in efforts to rattle up a buck..... Sadly, $$$$ became too much a temptation for him. For Ted, $$$$ is never lacking, so a little $1700 fine is NOTHING. In all actuality, if they pressed it, he could get hit with the "Son of Sam" law (law prohibiting criminals from making any profits from their criminal acts), and any profits regarding that episode would be surrendered to the state of California.

    1. I think this should have been over as soon as Justin posted his commet it was dead on.

    2. Honestly who really cares im shure Ted dont he rich if theres a way out of it im shure it will be found.

    3. And how did Veterans get tied into this?? and how is fighting for your Gov. and your Country any different? The Gov is part of this country, they tell you to go fight, so I think its the same.

I dont know seems weird to let something go on this far about someone 99% of us here dont even know other than watching him on the Outdoor channel?? If it was Joe Smuchk would this turn into a 3 page thread?

If Ted is your idol you should really re-think your hunting ethics.
Look up the story about an endangered white Rhino that "echo" clothing bought out from under Ted and donated to a place called OUT OF AFRICA in Arizona. He purchased the rhino to kill it on his HIGH fence property. He is a terd and in my opinion is just as bad a poacher.
