Congrats! And I corrected your post for you.

Just remember to count backwards from your favorite time to hunt 10-11 months on when to procreate

J/K, sounds like you are on cloud 9 already.

Well it's August 23, and the opener is a week from Saturday. I had both of the bucks I posted on here show up Sunday and yesterday with plenty of daylight left, actually about 7:30. So I am just hoping they will stay on pattern for the next 2 weeks or so. We will see. Once that velvet is gone I am not sure what they will do. Plus might have to make adjustments when acorns start to drop heavy. Gotta love it, haha.

Good luck brother!!! I was just thinking of this a couple days ago and trying to plan ahead, running check lists in my mind, lol.

The corn will start coming out of the fields in the next week or so, which will causes some shifts. Then the velvet will start coming off between the first and second week of September, which will split them up for a short time, but they will get back together after all the velvet is gone. Then the acorns will start to fall, which will cause shifts. And then when the first scrapes start to pop up where the does are hanging out (around Oct 15th in my area) they will split up for good, causing alot of shifting.

Keeping up with core shifts can be tricky. The hardest part is keeping up with the ripple effect, inadvertent shifts caused by other shifts...it's nearly impossible to plan for that.

Thanks Gri22ly, same to you ! There seems like there is so much to do or at least so much to think about before the opener, ha. Each day I get more antsy knowing it is almost here, but I guess that is a good thing. Hopefully we can put some nice velvets down early!

Alright guys, I'm going to leave it up for you all to decide.

Merlinbyler has yet to check in. Gonna have to make the choice pretty quick as Brad hast stated he will assign alternates by Aug 31st, week from today.

Per the contest rules he has 2 weeks to check in which would be by Monday.

With him we need 1 alternate, without him we will need to request 2.

Do we request one and hope he eventually shows back up, he participated on a team last year, or do we request 2 alternates and ensure we have a full team(hopefully).

Currently there is probably not enough alternates to ensure all 27 teams have 12, but still a few days left.

11 members - 1, and I will sit out the vote so should not end up in a tie. Don't want to make the choice without full support of the team.

Figured that was the first thing I would hear

I'm keeping an eye on how many are needed and signed up as alternates.

My gut says request them while they're available, but heart says he'll show.

Never had this situation in the last 7 or 8 years.

Sent @merlinbyler a final PM, he should get an email notification as well. Hopefully all is well with him and nothing more than spam grabbing the notifications for him to log back in.
