I've hunted and worked harder this year than I ever have, but I've only set in a tree six times this year. Tomorrow is my last vacation day, lol.

Every waken hour has been spent...looking over maps, strategizing, checking/moving cameras, looking at and comparing data, methodically trying to apply logic to my next move.

I would like to tell you that I used some sophisticated, hi tech strategy to kill this buck, but I didn't, lol. We have a really good acorn crop this year. On years of good mast, I know of a couple dozen oak flats that butt up to some nasty bedding thickets that get torn up. I took cam's into a few of them a couple weeks ago in anticipation. Been checking them every 3-4 day's to see what moves in. My latest card pull showed that this guy had just become a regular patreon and had even laid down some new scrapes. After 30 years I'm finally learning to hunt ahead of sign instead of behind it, lol.

You were still able to set up and kill a target buck.

I've never seen a buck I've killed outside of 10 yards where I shot him lol.

Is KY a one buck state or can you chase one of your others the rest of season?

One buck state...and my wife says "thank the lord", lol. Going to pull all my cam's here pretty soon for the rut, then I'll get them back out in December. Plan on shooting a doe sometime before season ends also.

I would be just as happy with his sheds as I would be with his head. I've kinda grown attached to him, lol. Not even sure if I want to kill him now.

Nothing wrong with that, best of 3 isn't always needed while playing chess.
