The wind is just not cooperating this weekend the best, and got rain and thunderstorms throughout also. I am going to try to go hang a new set on same piece of property but for different wind. Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend.
I hardly ever tell on myself, but here it goes. he staged up about 30-35 yards out at a bad angle. I had to watch him for about 15 minutes (seemed like an hour) before he continued and offered me shot. I completely fell apart and missed him clean. I have no idea how I missed him, but I did. I always fall apart after the shot....but this time, I fell apart just before. Guess it was because I had to watch him for so long before the shot. First case of buck fever I've had in years. Sorry guys
It happens to the best of us a clean miss is better then wounding him still plenty of season left Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I think it is a win that you beat him. You did everything right and luck just happened to be on his side last evening. Curious as to his reaction being relatively unpressured. How will it change your tactics on him, or will you let him get back to routine and set up on another?
Long season ahead. I struggled for so long with falling apart at the shot so i understand what it does to you. You will have another opportunity im sure just be smart. Look at the bright side you didn’t ruin the area by wounding him and tracking all over the place.
He busted out like I smacked him on the tail. Stopped about 50 yards out for a minute or so, then trotted off. I'm gonna hope and pray it doesn't affecting him to much. It's all or nothing now, I can't afford to let up or back down...going on as planned. His summer pattern is about to go through a drastic change anyways as soon as the acorns start dropping. I've put so much work and time into this buck for the last couple of years...I was sick at my stomach and had trouble going to sleep last night.
It happens and you are man enough to admit you had buck fever...more often than not a mysterious twig is the blame for the missed shot. My wife is leaving town and I am hunting this weekend.
Good luck I still have a couple weeks before I can go out Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Been shooting my bow everyday and scouting ever couple days in some public land Monday sucked tho I was on the edge of a swamp and step on a ground bees nest looked like a promising spot until that happened won’t be going back there for awhile did know bees made nests in swamps either Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ground bees make for a exciting exit. Was checking stand and I have a haybale blind. Opened it up and did some quick back tracking. Big old yellow jacket nest bout 5 to 6 inch across. Came back later with some wasp spray and had me some fun. Lol man right now I am lucky if I get to shoot my bow on the weekend it absolutely sucks. But its bound to slow down here yet. Even if it doesn't I am taking a week off sometimes during the middle of the rut. Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Was this after the encounter? Getting any out of velvet yet? Any upcoming conditions peaking your interest to get back on him? You know the why and when to make your move, you'll get him. Gonna make it that much sweeter.
After, went and pulled a card this morning...I had to know if he was still around. And he is, not sure if my tree I missed him from is still gonna work though. Conditions are perfect Sunday and Monday.
Probably half of not more are all hard horned now. Young buck I hope makes it couple more years...he will be a stud if he dose. Bee hive in the background, lol.
@gri22ly i hope you can get back on him. Im sure that you didnt bust him out of the area but he probably be a little more cautious is all.
