That is a stud of an 8 right there. Be neat to see if you get another pic of him out of velvet, maybe kneeling behind him grinning holding his head upright by the rack
Now that is a nice 8! Shot would be taken by this guy! Ha. On a sort of a down note, I am got a buck or 2 that has already shed velvet and haven't seen the 2 deer I've posted in about 6 days. Obviously doesn't mean everything, but definitely a change of events. But losing velvet in August, sheesh. Ha. Oh well, 1 day left!
Ugh, ready for this heat yo break, but it seems to be unrelenting anymore. Everytime it cools down it turns around into another heat wave. I get into that hunting excitement although season is still a month away, and likey closer to 2 months for my first sit, then it gets shunted with pessimism as it returns to the 90's. Loving these trail cam pics everyone's posting. Never been om a team that someone was able to get a velvet buck and we have a few. Could get on the board quick. Feeling optimistic about our chances in this one, and that is not a captain hyping things up. We have a solid team this year, and should gain one more member in the next few days with any luck. Shoot straight and aim small.
I feel good about the next few weeks. I'm going to do my best. And you can put me down for a doe later on, after it cools off a little.
Luck be with you, no lack of confidence in your abilities. Hell, I remember when you were offering up tutorials/discussions on reading topos and such here on the forums. Already requested an autographed copy of your first book a few years back.
Hahaha...I've got a ton of stuff that would probably make a book right now if the right person had it...I struggle with filler. Over the past couple years I've been working on something a little different. Finding patterns in what seems like randomness. Environmental factors that make up core's. Core shifts. Edges (interior and exterior) that make up bedding and movement.
Looks like a hot opening day in the bluegrass. Gri22ly, you seen any signs or pics of the deer losing velvet your way already? Also, as CLS mentioned, send me some of that confidence, ha.
Those some hella nice deer. Put em down for the count your first chance. I am just itching to go check my cameras but it will be opening day Sept 15th befor I will be able to get back to my lease to check camera. Which nothing wrong with that. Wont be putting any pressure on em that way but man. Every time you you pull cards it Christmas all over. Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Not personally, but heard several others say they've started. I was watching one last year that shed last week of August.
Pretty sure one is velvet and one isn't. Spoke to a buddy this morning who said some of his smaller bucks have started to shed.
Looks like the one in the front has shed. Oftentimes they will split up until they both have shed, then they'll get back together. Reason being, the one that has shed will start trying to spar with the one that hasn't...so they split up until they are both hard horned.
Yo yo yo! I’ve been assigned to yuall’s team as an alternate. My name is Marty. I live in central OK but hunt all over the state. I own property in extreme NE OK a mile from the Arkansas<>OK line in the ozarks. I have not scrolled back to see who all is on the team. Headed out tonight for dove season opener tomorrow morning...
