I haven't been able to hunt mush due to long harvest hours. Hopefully we'll be done by nov 15th if it doesn't rain . Looks like Halloween weekend is going to be awesome. Good luck to those who are able to hunt. I'm sure I'll be in a John deere. In less God makes it pour. ;)

I'm gonna be in the stand all next weekend. Didn't see and big deer moving during shooting light in Kansas so I'm back in MN now. Going back out tonight with my kid. Saw some deer last night just out of range. We will see if they move in the wind, can't wait until the cold front this week.

    Update Time:

I setup a new stand yesterday morning, put up a tinks mock scrape and baited. This late afternoon I decided to get a sit in and see if anything comes through. Well it was almost dark and I was almost ready to pack up and I heard some very loud splashing in the marsh down the hill from me. I thought here comes a deer. Well what almost seemed forever I saw through the brush two deer, one was chasing the other. I thought, that has to be a buck chasing a doe! Well one went behind me and one went to my left. I grabbed my bow thinking I might have a shot on the buck if he comes in. Well at that point I wanted them to hurry up so I grunted to the deer hoping they would come through. As soon as I grunted both started coming towards me. At that point so much was going on that I was losing track of where the deer were. Well a minute later the deer on my left snuck up really quick that It was almost on top of me and it was a doe. Well I didn't notice it but another deer was behind it, it was a buck! He had his head down just sniffing the doe while he was following. It was pretty dark by then and I could see his horns just barely. Well the doe ran off and went down the hill and the buck came right in the bait. All the while there was another deer behind me that I couldn't see. The deer behind me kept stomping it's foot, (I thought it was another buck!). Well I had a decision to make, shoot at the buck who was about 100 inch 8 pointer who was broadside at 14 yards and I could barely make him out, or wait to see what the other deer was. I made the decision that it was still early in the year and put my bow back on it's holder and not make a bad decision. I really think I could have made a good shot (even with the dark) but just wanted to make the right decision. But man was that an awesome hunt!

Saw 11 tonight mostly does with one smaller buck harassing a couple of them. Saw a nice 8 point driving home and had a doe run into the side of my truck, at least she only buffed the door and no damage and she looked ok.

I saw early bird yesterday. 25 yards but I was in the combine. He's pretty nice. Was bedded right under my lone wolf.

Well my weekend was pretty eventful like Tim's. I had a really cool encounter with 2 1/2 year 8 pt. He was pushing a doe and she was having none of his antics. He stood broadside at 30 yards for about five minutes. Pretty sure he was testing me. He made a scrape and snort wheezed. The group of does that came in before him caught me drawing back on one of the big girls and didn't approve. They all stomped and did the head bob for about 2 minutes then went into thicker stuff. No shot but man I'm pumped to get back out there. I actually feel a virus coming on for Friday...think they call it deer-itus.

With being so busy I can tell i'm off by a day again this year. A lot of reports of bucks cruising Sunday and of course I couldn't get out until Monday afternoon. I seen NOTHING! I will be at it all week in the afternoons it's the only time I can get out.

Put in a mock scrape on Saturday, and I have a new scrape there this morning. That buck must have come back and didn't like it too much. :tu:

I am really pumped this year, first time ever that I'm going to be taken vacation from everything just so I can hunt! All those years of college is really paying off by aiding me in finding a place of employment that grants vacation in your first year. I'm feeling really blessed, and I'm also feeling thankful for this forum and meeting all the awesome people. :tu:

Is anybody seeing any deer? I had a nice 10 point 30 yards away yesterday but too much brush was in the way, ugh.

This guy showed up yesterday right in front of my stand in the afternoon. He was the 8 pointer I had an encounter with couple weekends ago.
