I took my 7 year old granddaughter out with me last night. Right at Sunset we had a 7 point come in and fed around us for about 5 minutes. When it finally got broadside and quartering away, I gave her the go ahead and she had about a 3 second window before it walked off. She didn't pull the trigger. She said she just wasn't sure, she could make a good shot. I commended her for not wanting to wound a deer. We both had a great experience and I hope she gets another chance.
Follow up to this story from yesterday. I took my granddaughter back out last evening and I could not believe the same 7 point came back in with 15 minutes of daylight left. He gave her a perfect 19 yard broadside shot. She double lunged and sliced the top of the heart. It ran 75 yards. I am so proud of her. I started getting her shooting .22 when she was 4 years old. This year I taught her how to use a bow and a crossbow. She still can't pull back the Minimum requirement for the bow, so we opted to use the crossbow. She is a natural and I can't believe she got such a nice buck for her first.
Been hunting every day. tonight I saw 3 bucks and 5 does. Had a 170 inch deer we know well at 150 yards. so frustrating. I was shaking like a leaf... 2 years of pictures, first ever encounter. He's almost 100% nocturnal. I wills core my first one this weekend sometime and get it entered
I'm headed back to Ohio this afternoon. Hoping to put a buck on the ground this weekend. Supposed to have some mornings in the high 20's so that should have them up and moving. Good Luck this weekend Team!

No Luck in Ohio this weekend. I could have shot a 110" 8 point Saturday morning and a 105" last evening but they are both too young. Our Archery season ended in PA on Saturday. I will still be out with my crossbow in the Rifle season which opens on 12/5. I'm not going back to Ohio until the day after Thanksgiving so you guys are going to have to keep the points coming in until after that. Good Luck Team!
I shot my biggest archery deer ever this morning. It's a deer I have a lot of pictures of. I finally closed the deal on him. I made it happen at 8 yards today. He was quartering away, I put it a little back and got both lungs and it went all the way out the briscuit area. He ran 30 yards and died right in front of me. I'm super pumped and still shaking. I am tagged out here in Illinois. Now it's on to Wisconsin. I'm leaving for an elk and Mulie hunt in Montana on Friday. Good luck guys, anything can happen. Nice buck been out every weekend seen a nice 8 point Friday morning about 100 yards tried hitting him with a grunt and can call be he wasn't interested. Plan to be back out this weekend.
I did all day sits the 10-14 and didn't pull back once on a buck. I saw 16 bucks in the 5 days and 4 of them were shooters but couldn't close the deal on them. Had 2 of the 4 shooters come in within shooting distance but just never worked out. Will be out this Wed and then Sunday,Monday,Tuesday. Getting to the point in the season where I'll lower my expectations on buck size and hopefully connect on one soon.
