We’re one day closer guys! I took Tuesday off work to go in after that big deer. There’s a little temp drop with a projected NW wind for Tuesday so in the morning I will be in the stand where I shot that doe and in the evening I’ll be about 100 yards south sitting over a heavily used fence crossing. After the morning sit I’m going to hang a camera and before the evening sit I’m going to hang another camera overlooking the fence crossing in hopes of getting some intel on the big deer. I’ve always been known to have a very itchy trigger finger, but on this particular piece I’m going to try my absolute best to hold out for the big deer being it would be my first chance at a true potential gross 170” buck.
Opening next week here in IL! Got out and checked our food plots and was surprised to see them actually growing! Finally got some rain after extreme drought conditions, not huge but not bad!
Opening day tomorrow! I work 2nd shift and won't get off until midnight or later. My granddaughter has a soccer game at 9 in the morning. I'll be skipping the morning hunt tomorrow, but I'll definitely be out in the afternoon. I plan to hunt both morning and evening on Sunday. There are tons of chestnut trees at my mom and dad's place. That is where I plan to hunt most of this weekend. I should at least get an opportunity to shoot a doe. Good luck, guys! Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Anyone get in any sits this weekend? I believe everyone will be able to hunt starting Tuesday, let’s get after it! I haven’t checked any cams lately, just don’t want to walk in and do unnecessary damage. So from here on out I will more the. Likely just check them when I head in to hunt if there’s a camera close. As I already said I’ve got Tuesday off so I’m going to sit morning and evening. If I went to work I’d feel bad for doing absolutely nothing for 8-10 hours so I might as well get paid to hunt and take a nap.
Yesterday evening, I saw 7 does, all out of range. This morning, I saw 12. By the time I decided I was going to shoot, they had me pinned down. They were too close and I couldn't move. I'm out again this afternoon in 85° heat. If I see anything, I'll be surprised. Looking forward to opening weekend of the Oklahoma season. I'll probably have to work Saturday, but I'll make it out Sunday for sure. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Didn't hunt over the weekend due to rain and wind from the southern storm. I did do a bit of scouting and moving cameras. Tons of acorns on the ground right now from the wind Friday night. I marked a few white oaks that seem to be getting hit. Most likely will not be hunting this farm until the weekend of 10/19.
Plan is to head west to Illinois this Friday morning. Hoping to be in a stand that evening, hunt Saturday evening and will be heading home Sunday.
Finally got the first buck on camera at my house. It was just a matter of the October switch being flipped. He most likely won’t make the list this year. Solid 3 yr old Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Decided to do a hunt tomorrow. Going to be down to 45 tonight then back up to 75 during the day. Then 80 for the next 7 days.
I finally have a halfway decent buck on camera in Arkansas. I'm working this Saturday, but I'll be hunting in Oklahoma on Sunday. I have the next two Saturdays off. The 19th is youth season season in Oklahoma. I'll have my granddaughter Gracie in the stand with me. She killed her first deer last season. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
That’s awesome, good luck! I’m loaded up and heading to IL early tomorrow am. About an 8 hr drive. I’ll be in the stand tomorrow evening and Saturday. More of a cam on scrape placement trip, but I’ll be looking for a few of the bucks while hunting. No does on this trip. I can do that here at home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Didn’t you say something about some bully bucks that need to be shot in Illinois? I’m pretty sure you did and I’m pretty sure that I’m your guy lol. Good luck man, go kill that slob!
Fling a few arrows, eating, showering and heading out to get back up a tree tonight. Good luck if anyone is getting out! Remember to keep shooting, even if it’s just a few swords a day.
