I like the "Ones to watch". I pulled cards on two of the three cameras I have in Arkansas. Still no shooters. I'll get some cameras out in Oklahoma today or tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Good evening guys! Hammer checking in from Maryland. I lost my whitetail lease this spring but have a few small acre places that hold does. Hopefully I'll be good for a couple flat heads. I also hunt sika deer a bunch so you might see those get thrown in the mix. We get started in bow season Sept 6th.
I placed a couple cameras out in Oklahoma yesterday afternoon. I'll let then rest for a couple of weeks before checking cards. I put a venison shoulder on the smoker early this morning. It should be ready for supper this evening. We can't wait to dig in! Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
I like the “0nes to watch” or “one for the books”. Just finished 5 days of getting everything ready for season opener on 15th September. Put in 5 food plots, put out about a dozen cameras and checked all the stands. Will be going checking the cameras in 2 weeks. I do have a couple of cell cameras that are showing so promise!! I also think I have got the same deer on camera from last year which I also found his sheds. Tell me what you think. It’s his G2/G3 on his left side that’s making me think it
Pulled shoulder off the grill after 12 hours, covered with foil after 8 hours. It was my first time smoking deer, but it won't be the last. It turned out tender and tasty! Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Short69 here. I’m in north central Illinois. Hunting just a few minutes from the house counted a dozen in the field the other night with at least 1 nice buck. Just hunt for fun and to fill the freezer.
Productive weekend for me. Finished up trimming stands. One more round of fertilizer on the plots Wednesday if it looks like rain Thursday. I hunt 130 acres in Fond du Lac county, WI and occasionally hunt my brothers 75 acres as well. We have one property between us and hunt on a big block of WRP land with woods, river, ag fields. We have the bedding as our property is mostly WRP. I hunt with my kids (17 and 14 year old boys but they mainly gun hunt and my 9 year old daughter hasn’t started hunting yet) We also do a lot of duck hunting and turkey hunting on the property as well. I’m pretty picky with what I shoot, but usually have 1-3 opportunities on 130-160” per season. I could shoot a 110”-120” every year, but leave those for my kids and father in law. I had a couple screw ups last year that I’m looking to redeem myself this year. I will try and get a doe on the ground early or late season. Unfortunately, we lost one of our up and coming bucks to a vehicle collision a week ago, but still plenty out there. My wife almost hit another big buck today at 10 AM, but was able to avoid it. Whew! Not sure how much I’ll get out opening weekend. I am also at the busiest time in my life with kids activities but I live right by my hunting land so still get out quite a bit. I should be good for 50 points and if I shoot a buck, I’ll contribute another 125 points minimum. Let’s get some doe down early! Good luck everyone!
Ok, we are all checked in. I like Ones to Watch also as a team name. If anybody wants to be captain, I am good with that. If not, I can do it. 48deg here in Ohio this morning. I won't be long!
Here’s a buck I mistakenly passed on the first evening hunt in Illinois last year. Glad he’s shown back up. He’s added length and mass, thinking he is at least a 5 yr old this year maybe 6. 2023 2024 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m also good with Ones to Watch for the team name, and as far as captain @buckeyehntr5 it looks like you just volunteered lol. The new property looks freaking amazing, bumped some deer, found a couple small sheds, and saw a really nice 8 or 9pt that’ll probably go 135-140. I’m going in on Friday to brush chop some good access trails in the crp, hang a few stands and prep a couple hang and hunt trees I picked out yesterday. Also got a call from a land owner of that I stopped at earlier this year giving me the green light on a 35 acre piece. Me and my boys are going to try to walk that this evening to pick out a few easy to get to trees. We’re getting closer and closer every day guys! Don’t forget to shoot!
