Congrats on the bucks guys! Hope that you have a happy ending to your tracking job.

I put one down on my first sit in Iowa last evening. Headed back home probably tomorrow.

Awesome man, congratulations! That’s got to be very bittersweet to wait 5-6 years and kill on the first sit, but given the opportunity I would have done the same thing.

It took us a bit but we’re finally rolling. Hopefully Aaron is able to recover his and add another one to the score card tomorrow.

Congrats! Really hoping I can find mine for the team. That’ll put us in a really good spot!

    Way to go fellas!

Nice going, guys! Y'all are really putting points on the board. After two months of no rain, we are finally getting some. I managed to take my granddaughter out, between showers, on a youth hunt this evening. We saw 9 does at 150 yards. All she had was a neck shot, so she decided not to shoot. They are calling for rain all day and most of the night on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will be my best chance to add points for our team.

Yesterday's evening hunt went well. Seen 12 does/fawns and three small bucks. Two fork horns had one helluva fight. Buttoning things up in the office this week and then heading it IL on Friday early morning. Should get an evening hunt in Friday to start the trip. Keep stackin them boys! I'll do my best to put some points on soon!

Good luck on the track today Aaron, we’re all pulling for ya.

Also if everyone is hunting good luck! I’ll be back out Wednesday and Thursday after this low pressure warm front pushes through.

Well guys, he’s still alive. Still not doing well, but learned that his front leg/brisket is badly injured. He’s back on my property by water. He isn’t moving far and the injury will eventually be fatal, but I need to try and hunt him before he gets eaten by coyotes so that is the plan over the next couple days to set up to kill him in a couple potential strategic locations.

I also figured out that I’m an idiot. I normally use a vertical bow and occasionally use a crossbow depending on what stand I’m sitting in. I have a Ravin R10 for my kids to use and I use some as well and that is what I used Saturday. I kept wondering why I was so far off at 18 yards on this shot that I missed my mark by quite a bit. It turns out, I forgot to load my bolt with the single fletching down. I knocked it like I knock my regular bow. I don’t use it that often and just wasn’t thinking. Well, obviously to me now, the fletchings caught on the exit and send the bolt off target, causing the less than ideal shot. I’m kicking myself for overlooking something so elementary.

    The saga continues. Stay tuned.

Stick with it, doesn’t sound like he will travel very far if he even makes it much longer.

Stick with it man. Reminds me of a deer my buddy shot a few years ago. His deer was at a very steep downward angle though. If the deer was further from his tree it would have went nowhere. But because of the angle he shot too low in the V. The entry and exit hole actually had connecting slices, he was lucky to catch an artery that wouldn’t clot up, after some patience and pushing the deer bled out and died.

I don’t know if you’ve got the room but it could be an option to soft bump him to really get his blood flowing again. I’m guessing he’s doing as little as possible just trying to survive.

Agree with MI, I shot one forward through the top of front leg one year and it entered the brisket area. Jumped him that evening and backed out. Went in the next morning slowly following the blood trail and jumped him again, his front leg was just hanging as he ran away. He didn't go far and I had a few buddies soft bump him around this hollow after I set up in front of him a few hundred yards. He came down the same trail I setup on and I got a finishing shot on him. He will most likely die, but it could take a few more days for sure.

Just got caught up from the last several days. Congratulations on all the kills!!!
I will be hunting almost every day for the next 2 weeks. I almost got my target buck the other day, I grunted him in to 35yds (30 is my max). Not really seen a lot of chasing yet. Still getting lots of pic of bucks I would take so hopes are still high. I’m going to hang another stand today that I’ve had a couple of shooters at. good luck everyone.

Moved a cam about a 1/4 mile from where my target has been last Sunday in a pine thicket on a scrape I found. He showed up this morning. Still can’t figure this deer out as he didn’t summer here and it’s our first year of owning. Neighbor has pics late summer not farm from his current location. Hoping he sticks around while I’m in IL next week. He’s sticking to the south side of the farm, not on any other cameras on this 211 acres. Hopefully I can lock an area down when I get back.
