Things are picking up on cell cams. A few of the shooters showed back up over night along with some chasing. Caught this buck getting frisky! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m going to be doing 2 all day sits this weekend going after my target buck. The weather is going to be some of the coldest day time temp so far this season. I don’t have any day time pic of him yet but with the temp I’m hoping they will be on there feet a little longer looking for the does. I do have another buck that I think is a shooter but I would like to see him in person before I will commit. I have had him once last week on camera 20yds from my stand so let’s see what happens.
I'm halfway through a 9 hour shift after working 59 hours M-F. I won't get home until around 1:00. Plan to get a few hours sleep before hitting the woods in the morning. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
First excellent sit of the year. Laid down some great footage with my phone. Got a couple snort wheezes on video. This guy was tempting but just not quite what I am looking for. He gave me 5-20 yard shots at least a dozen times. It was quite a show! He wanted to fight the 8 so bad but the other buck knew better. Also shot a yote Thursday morning and almost another one Friday. Trick or treat today so unfortunately won’t be in the stand tonight, but will try and get out this week some.
I had a good hunt this morning as well. I saw three bucks this morning. I saw the mainframe 11 pt with split brows crossing a logging road at about 50 yards. I grunted at him, and he went back from where he came. I did a little light rattling. I never saw him again. However, a basket rack 6 pt and heavy 10 pt came out at 20 yards. I did not have a shot through the tree limbs. If he had turned left or continued straight for about 10 steps, he would have been in a shooting lane. They turned right. My afternoon hunt started terrible. I drove 15+ miles before I realized I had forgotten my crossbow. I got in the stand an hour later than planned, but there's still a chance. This buck is making me work for him. Moved a couple cell cams on scrapes where I think he is hanging out. Not going to hang a stand until I can pin point his core area or he daylights. He seems to be sticking to only the west side of our property. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Neighbor just sent me these pics. My target buck is locked down with a doe in his cattle pasture. He’s not far from where he has been on cam recently. He’s driving me nuts lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sunday evening, I could barely walk back to my truck. I'm off work for the next few days with a possible herniated disc and pinched nerve. This afternoon, a wildfire broke out near the land I hunt in Oklahoma. It burned several acres on the south end of the property. As of now, it is partially contained and not threatening the area I hunt. I'm on vacation next week. Rain is forecast for most of the week. I can't complain about the rain. We need it, BAD! I may have to hunt from a blind next week. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
My #1 daylighted at 2:00 today and again right after dark. He has a broken G3 but still a big old horse of a buck. Another decent one showed up as well. Not sure I recognize him.
I'll be out this evening through Sunday. Hopefully I can get eyes on my target buck on one of the sits. Last pics were from Sunday evening before locking down with that doe. Sunday will be my last Ohio hunt until I get back from Illinois. We leave next Friday morning.
Halloween was almost magical even though we had sustained 25 mph winds gusting over 40 tonight in WI. Saw my #1 early come out of the cattails and go back in. A doe was bedded with him. She came out to feed around 5:30 and he tended her. Chased her toward me and rubbed on a tree 50 yards away. No shot. Chased her back into my other plot and tended her more. Chased her further away into the cattails and I thought it was over. Right before close the doe came trotting through the trees toward my plot and he was on her. She was heading right toward me. Right before she got to the plot, he bumped her to the east just a bit and into a thicker part across a mown trail. I had a 38 yard shot but not high percentage so opted to pass and that was no doubt the right decision. I wounded this buck last year on an arrow malfunction and wasn’t about to take a bad shot. Good news is that he has been in this area for a few days now. Three huge trees rubbed behind my stand. Need to get it done before he moves out of the area.
Sorry I’ve been mia guys, had to head out of town for a couple days. I got home yesterday afternoon and got out last night. Saw 5 bucks and a doe, could have shot 4 of the bucks but the biggest one was maybe 110”. I have today off of work so I’m getting ready to head out of the door in a few minutes. I’m planning on sitting until 11 then I’m going to move properties and sit the rest of the day. November is here, good luck gentleman!
finally made it out yesterday. Mostly to check stand condition. saw 5 does and 3 different bucks. Off all next week so, things are looking good.
