Went out to the game lands today and saw some great signs...also saw about 12 to 20 turkey that we spooked on accident. The area that we want to hunt looks great, if we get their early on opening day we can lock it down. Looks promising!!

Its starting to look like opening day might be washed out for me. Rain, possibly severe thunder storms are predicted.:( I may have to take a sick day next week.:D

If its a light rain I'll be in my pop-up in a field. If its a thunderstorm I'll be in my recliner!

Well guys I got out on opening day and had birds gobbling on the roost all over the place. Then they flew down and shut up. Had to be at least 6 birds on the roost. They must be henned up bad. I never saw a single bird. I wasn't very mobile with the blind and all my gear so I only moved a couple of times.
This coming weekend I'm going on a draw hunt from TPWD. I have to use a shotgun for this one. However I'll be back out with the bow and NO BLIND on the following weekend. I've decided to give up on using a pop-up. I can move around much better without it.

Well fellas...no luck during the permit hunt. Gobblers were not calling much...we think they pretty much stayed hened up right off the roost. Might have a few more chances at a friends property. We will see.

Good luck man! I'll be hitting it for the first time Saturday morning. Been seeing some birds but I fear the weather isn't going to be cooperative.

Well I screwed it up this morning fellas. I called in 3 right off the bat, and I flippin missed. I HATE missing. But, instead of chasing them around all morning and educating them, I got the hell out of there. I'm pretty confident they'll be there again tomorrow.
