Not much going on with me. Drew back on a nice 10pt and he didn't clear the tree i needed him to. Stopped behind the tree for about 30 or 40 seconds, backed up and walked away from me. Stayed behind the tree as he walked away. Never got the shot off. 2nd encounter with him was a bad one. Was on my way to hunt Sunday morning and got to my spot, opened trunk and my golf clubs were there. Forgot I took bow case out to golf on Saturday. Ran back home, got bow and returned right at sunrise. Got in stand, grabbed rope to pull my bow up and he was standing there about 40/50 yards away watching me. Turned jumped the fence and walked away across the pasture. Have passed on 2 nice 8pts that both have come to within 10 yards of me. I have 2 on my wall now that are the same as these guys and am holding out for a more mature or bigger buck this year. Going to try and hunt Saturday and Sunday mornings this weekend. Good luck all. I've been posting on the other team page. I've only had one opertunity at a nice buck and he stopped right before the opening he needed to be in. He knew something wasn't right and backed up and walked straight away from me behind a tree. I might have to spend next year scouting public or get permission for some other private land. Just not seeing the quality and quantity of deer the last 3 years or so. I only hunt about 14 acres, but I used to see 20+ deer in the pasture beside me some mornings and evenings. Ive been slammed at work since I came back from Illinois. I will be out Friday through Sunday so hopefully I can put one down then. Late season for me is usually killer so Im not rushing around trying to just get a buck. Im not about that at all. If its not the right one Im not shooting.
