I didn't have time unfortunately to get a tape on him. I dropped him off at the processor to get caped so it might be a couple of weeks. I'll make sure to enter it.

Well guys, my two week vacation for hunting has come to a close. I had a shooter within 60 yards 7 different times and couldn't get it done. That's not to say that I'm done though....far from it actually. I work Tuesday and Wednesday, then hunt Thursday and Friday. I've still got time to get it done, it's just gonna get a little tougher once gun season hits though. I'll keep you updated.

well it's deer sighting is getting better. As I walked to my stand today at 12N, I was walking the round about way (250yds) away from my stand so that as not to spook any deer bedded by my stand and I kick up a bedded down doe and large 8ptr on the fence line alone the picked cornfield I was walking in. CAN YOU SAY DANG! nothing but whitetail afterburners lit up and they were out of there. I think I have him on camera.
At 4:45 I had a small 6 ptr (got him on video also) come towards me in the picked cornfield. He came to about 60 yds and then stopped looked across the field, where I kicked up those previous deer, and he starts walking that way. Didn't care about my grunt call. He stopped in the middle put his nose to the ground and started trotting towards that fence line.
So at least I've got to see some deer today. bummer is i won't be able to hunt till next Mon-Wed. Gun season starts on Fri so I've gotta connect in those 3 days or the chances get much lower.

    good luck to everyone else.

Well guys I certainly tried these last 4 days I just could NOT seal the deal. From Friday to Monday I saw 6 different shooters including my #2 hit lister "STD Buck" yesterday morning at 50 yards. Most of them were cruising hard and fast and paying little to no attention to any sort of calling.

My lone opportunity came on a nice 9 point I call Garth on Saturday night. He came in hard grunting and chasing 2 smaller bucks with a doe. I had him at 12 yards, drew on him 3 times, and just couldn't get a shot off. Camera in the way, peep twisted, too quartering-in, you name it just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I was sick after he left.

Here he is. About 150 yds from where I had my encounter with him.

Back at it again Friday to Monday. HOPEFULLY one of these stupid deer comes in and actually stops long enough that I can get their attention. They've been on the move almost too good this week.

Come on boys all I have been hearing from everyone is GOOD deer dropping, just waiting to hear it from y'all. I got a real sad phone call tonight from my dad saying he missed a giant. Really sucked to hear how upset he was with himself because he hasn't hunted since I was 12 every time he has gone out since then he has taken a kid (me, brother, sis, and two step kids) or his fiancé trying to teach them what hunting is about. I can't thank him enough for all the things he has taught me, but hearing him after he missed the biggest deer on our farm named bullwinkel, mid 170s, was just absolutely heart breaking. Anyway come on we fell in the scoreboard now lets get us back up there.

P.S. if anyone needs a cameraman do let me know Im aching to get in the woods.

Thats a bummer man, hopefully he gets another crack at him!!! Gun season starts here on saturday...but fortunately I hunt bow only zones and the ones that aren't I just need some blaze orange. I wish we lived closer cause I would def be taking you up on that offer!!!! lol Can't wait to get back in the stand this weekend, feel like it HAS to happen any sit now! Too many close buck encounters for it to not too....just need them to be older deer! I'm getting antsy and my trigger finger is really itchy! Wanna tag a buck already so I can go back on doe patrol! lol Good luck out there fellas!!!!

Hey JZ, I saw Trevor got his new HTR and set it all up....was just curious how the team works and the sponsorship with mathews...do you guys have to buy your own bows or does mathews supply the team with them as part of the sponsorship agreement...maybe a discount if not? Not sure how it all works, was just curious. Also good luck out there I know you had a close call the other night with the STD buck...gotta happen soon for you too!!!!

Alright the weekend is quickly approaching. Temps have gotten real cold here in Northern IL. Planning on getting out to my lease for part of the weekend just not sure which days yet. Either way I will be in a tree all 4 days since I am off Friday - Monday.

We typically don't post details on Sponsorship agreements in public, so I'll suffice it to say "a little of both". :D

I just set my HTR up at lunch. This thing is sweet! Love the way it draws and holds. Took about 1/2 dozen arrows to get it shooting bullets through paper. Now I just have to finish dialing in the HHA King Pin and I'll be hunting with it this weekend.

Did you hack my phone and read my text messages or something? Creeper!

Well today was interesting but not for me. Just about the time I was getting to my lease I got a phone call from one of the guys asking me to come help him recover his doe. We got her and proceeded to go get my stand set. I then went and recovered a few trail cameras I have had out since spring. Shortly after lunch I made my way to the stand for a very uneventful sit. Just a few minutes after getting down my buddy texts me again asking to come help him recover another doe. As we approached the deer he starts laughing and I realize he shot a great buck! Congrats to him! You will hear the story from him directly later! So as for me back at it again in the morning. Good luck to everyone this weekend!

Well I was so close again this morning. Had a hitlister at 23 yards, but I just couldn't get a shot. I kind of regret not taking a rifle this morning, I could've shot him several times with the gun.

Well just got down a tad early. My feet are in so much pain right now from the cold I could barely stand to get down. Anyways busted by a doe and saw 3 bucks. One was a shooter if he didn't have a busted off side. Other two were small. Back at it in the morning!
